PRESS RELEASE

SUCCESS FOR THE BAIRNSDALE DRAG RACING AFFILIATION

The Bairnsdale Drag Racing Affiliation (BDRA) is excited to announce that it has been appointed to operate the Bairnsdale Drag Racing Facility. The tendering process resulting in this decision was rigorous and the BDRA would like to thank the Bairnsdale Shire Council for its vote of confidence.

The BDRA is a non-profit club with a strong focus on charity, community development and, obviously, drag racing. Its members consist of drag racers from all levels of the sport past and present, marketing and sales experts from the automotive performance industry, and prominent members of the construction industry.

First and foremost our aim is to improve safety and bring the racing surface up to a level that's world-class - literally. We also intend to progressively raise all other areas at the facility to levels that will ensure a more enjoyable experience for both competitors and spectators alike. Just one example is the construction of a stand-alone burnout pad alongside the drag racing strip for those who crave the smell and excitement of that activity. This will be a huge improvement on existing conditions.

We look forward to creating a new drag racing club for locals and working with other car clubs in the area to run legal off-street drag racing. We are currently working with ANDRA and Pro Modified Australia to have the Bairnsdale facility included in the Regional Eighth Mile Series and Slamfest calendars.

We are very enthusiastic about the future of drag racing in Bairnsdale as well as this section of regional Victoria in general. We know from other regional tracks around Victoria what a huge impact drag racing can have on local communities. We can't wait to commence racing and put Bairnsdale on the map as the best Eigth Mile drag strip in Australia.

It'll be awesome to see it run the right way again and to get some big turnouts.
