Lake Gairdner Speed Trials - 2008
3rd - 7th March 2008
AS AT 10/02/2008 THE SPEED TRIALS HAVE BEEN POSTPONED!
After an inspection of Lake Gairdner by representatives of the DLRA and Rangers from the South Australian Department of Environment and Heritage, on Friday 7th February 2008 and again on Saturday 8th February 2008. It has been decided to indefinitely postpone the 2008 DLRA Speed Week.

2nd year in a row it has been canceled. Looking to try and run it later in the year.

Umm, what does a salt lake with cracks in the surface have to do with motorsport in SA being dead? Why was 1/2 of Adelaide closed down last weekend? Oh yeah, the country's largest ever motorsport event, and the worlds largest Touring Car event, known as the Clipsal 500.

People come from all over Australia, and the US for the DLRA Speed Week, it is now the largest salt lake race in the world since Bonneville has been dug up. But then again, do you know what Bonneville is?

Yes, AIR hasn't been opened for amateur drag racing for years. EVERYONE in SA knows that. Probably lucky for you anyway stalker, there might be a Kia, or worse still, a VP Calais 5L lined up against you, and you will get kicked out for doing loser fly-by's on a drag strip.

Anyway, Speed Week is one of the things I'd love to do in my lifetime, I remember reading about Gary Myers taking his black Mustang there a few years ago. Sounds like it's such an awesome week. Holding a car flat for 13 seconds is one thing, doing it for 2 minutes is in another league.

Spraying it with fish oil for the next month might not be fun though.
