Yeah that's a refrind cam iirc, so it needs 2 shims. Use the old rocker gear from the engine that was in it.

crap. what happens without it?
im going to have to have this stupid snapped bolt drilled out no doubt

or can i just replace parts without removing the whole assembly?

looked it up. will give it a go tuesday morning and hopefully the ticking will stop

Swapped to the other rocker gear, one of the lifters is dodgy so it has a slight tick. Will swap that one with one of the old ones till i get some matching ones.


Got the bolt out, stressed for nothing! Weaselled it out in about 2 mins.
Just gota sort out a sneaky water leak from behind the block somewhere and hit the drifts on thursday. With Rollins radiator in the back seat.

I hope that's not a rear Welch plug leak - box out and flywheel off if so...

Id say it is the rear welch as it not the heater hose and appears to be leaking from between block and bell housing.
At least it's an excuse to put a hd clutch in!

Yep. Better to do it before it dumps coolant on the track and pisses everyone off :/

Funny you should say that rollin... i dropped all my oil on the track. :s . lucky it was pissing rain the whole time and washed it all away. still a mega shit c@^% though. had to drop some oil before i went out and only finger tightened the sump bolt and it just popped out, luckily it was right as i was heading off the track and my mate had a spare full bottle of oil....

Havent done the welsh plug yet and wont for a few weeks. I killed another alternator, probably by drifting through so many puddles so now I gota buy one for me and one for chazo.
Can they be refurbished after getting wet while operating??

Also bought a bunch of paint/sanding/putty/primer gear to fix her up a bit

So ive got an exhaust lined up. Some racing seats lined up. Semi slicks all round. And i just gotta figure the intercooler piping sitch.

Hello all. Long time no updates/chat. Car had been sitting for a few years without much love, put my time and love into a volvo project and a moto project. Just slowly chipped away at the falcon.
But she runs now!! Had a dyno tune, didnt get agressive with it, 259hp, 626nm, 8psi. Got her engineered and roady'd and she is now my weekend driver and is super fun to drive. Still have a whole bunch to do. Like working windscreen wipers. And have a new set of suspension to chuck in.

My main concern however is the gearbox. Shes a bit clunky going into first, and first to second. With very careful shifting it goes in ok. So ive been looking at my options and I want to go with the Tremec t5. Have been trying to get in touch with Mal Wood for a couple of weeks but im not having any luck since my initial email where they told me the price.
Does anyone know if the tremec t5 is a direct replacement for the borgwarner. Like will fit up to my crossmember, bellhousing, clutch, tailshaft and shifter hole? The limited info ive found says they are essentially the same but just want to confirm.

Yeah you need to pay for photobucket now. Downloaded tapatalk so hopefully this works.

Falcons running well, so chuffed. Took it out to a Skid Control event at the Willowbank dirt track. Had a blast, no major problems and will definently go again.
