on the topic of Launching,
I pulled up to this VS 5ltr "wog spec" with some lebbo driving it, obviulsy it was Auto, but when he laucnhed, his tyres where slipping and chirping as he took off (without brake / acceltrator job)...what would it be? some sorta shift kit?

ABS = spongy brakes, but you'll slow to about 60

non-ABS = lock up at 100 & skid past the roo doing about 95. But you'll look sick doing it

Shite tyres by the sound of it.

In my EA with EA 5spd and 3.45:1 LSD I used to launch (and get traction) at about 4,000rpm. I had Bridgestone original G'Grids on at the time and they seemed to just love hooking up (225 15"s) Lower revs sometimes seemed ok but mostly it loved the revs off the line.

Yeah I have a set of Potenza G III's (basically the third version) on the front of my Mrs car - definitely better in the wet that's for sure (the originals were a little so-so in the wet) haven't tried them on the back to see what they're like for launching. Her clutch is fooked at the moment anyways.

They stall the car at high rpm unlike normal stalls that happen at idle.

with my ba auto i was holding it at 1800 and it was hard to stop her breaking traction... but with the 245/20s and me standing hard on the brakes i can get it to about 2600rpm and it sits at about 7-8psi ( can only hold her for a second or 2) and it willl cook off the line into second ( in private controlled street conditions).. but at the track she hooks up hard and launches fairly well. 2.1 60ft and 13.8 at 102mph more too come

stock stall, at least in an eseries is 2000rpm. Holding foot on the brake is only a myth to see what the stall is, as only a transbrake can help find the true rpm of the stall

however, 2nd best way is to simply jump on the throttle off the mark and see where it "flashes" to. Also a higher power output will bring any stall up, such as 104ord getting a much higher rpm launch on a stock stall..... if it is a stock stall?

Im lucky to get off the line normally without wheels spin if my foot is down!

2500 launches end in smoke ! and more rpm and i'd be facing backwards

I try and hold around 3500 rpm and slip clutch for a few seconds as lights come down tree.. Hard heal and toe, left foot brake to spool turbo.. Hard on clutch, depends on traction ...
I have super low compression so transition from rpm to boost is great . Making it VERY hard to control traction..
An auto and turbo is MUCH easier. The more power you have the auto is much easier to spool etc..

i find high stalls almost useless on the street unless your running the best rubber available

mine is only a 2500rpm stall, but at that rpm the car just crab walks up the road. I get a better launch when i apply half throttle and have it stall to the factory 2000rpm

with new clutch last night, 3000rpm and dump it wheelspin 1st gear, second run 3000rpm and slip the clutch a bit was a goer didn't bog much and no wheelspin

So after reading through this i dont think one person wrote in what they hold there revs on in a turbo manaul lol.
I was holding mine on 2200rpm and was bogging down big time! (60ft 2.5 FTL)
So what is the rest of the turbo manauls holding there revs on?

Max revs and slip clutch to get some boost on the board before you launch. You dont need to rev it heaps, just get it into positive pressure.
