I read that this morning...... vote 80% News Ltd hyperbole & scaremongering, 15% bullshit from the bloke they interviewed, and 5% chance an organised 300kph club exists.

Club members said they were not "young long-haired hoons" but middle-aged professionals and businessmen with the money to afford expensive modifications to their cars.
These include lightweight wheels, heavy-sprung suspension, altered gears and engines with 800 horsepower – the types of modifications not found in cars bought from a showroom.
I love reading shit like this when the writer obviously knows very little about cars... And since when do cars bought in a showroom come with modifications?
Whats stopping one of these middle aged pro's buying a stock standard euro supercar/crotch rocket and cracking 300k's? Its just another beat up to target any car that has a modification of any type.

You could possibly reach 300kp/h in ya box car if you had the right gearing and 40km of straight road

If you kept the foot buried till the top of fifth you would come pretty close in an e-series with some decent HP. Tyres shredding, tail shaft disintegrating and being able to stop in a timely manner would be the likely end to the attempt. You would need a lot of road.
PS: I'm going to found the
Busway 300 Club

Front end is gonna start getting light as **** at 250+, be all over the road at 300.
Aerodynamically I reckon it's gonna be pretty dangerous, forgetting everything else.
That motor magazine test where they did 300kph in that APS XR6T reckoned it was getting crazy at that speed.

I went on a cruise a few weeks ago on a thursday night, and i couldnt believe the speeds some people were doing at 9:30ish at night (wasnt a boosted cruise).
I've never heard of the M1 300 club though.

I did 227km/hr in the EB once. It felt stable but I was pretty hungover at the time.
Thats close enough to 300 isnt it?

How high does a digital dash speedo go to? I'd assume the first digit of your speed0 isnt limited to a 1?

I hit 232 in an EF. Wasn't too bad either, but the rear was a little "bouncy" or "light" and that gave the steering a twitchy feeling. I think that's as close as I'll ever get
Someone needs to start that club on the Monash once they've finished widening it. The road to G-town would be a really good one, if it weren't for the camera's.

300 i wish i had the chance to do it in the typhoon.... i hit 260kph but that was at sandown, corners FTL ... and cooked the brembo's at the same time, it amazing how small you arsehole gets when you try to apply the brakes at 260 and there is none they just go straight to the floor..

Same, I've hit 210kph in the ED, but wasn't keen on staying there, worried the tailshaft would grenade.
The GTS was smooth as at 240kph, the plastic fantastic bodykit actually seemed to provide good downforce.

250ish FEELS fast in a Falcon.. Whereas a Euro/Jap saloon feels like 200 tops. Its amazing how much difference their dynamics and undertrays make. We used to do Chapel/Crown runs in a mates Lexus. Was usually 20 minutes home from the Westgate to Bell Park in Geelong. lol.
Can't claim 300 tho. Perhaps close on a CBR600RR, wasn't game to look anywhere but 300 metres ahead. Its bullshit how quick stuff flys past.

If you were doing Chapel/Crown runs to Bell Park in 20mins, you must have been hanging around a few old school wogs haha, I've heard them stories countless times from my uncle and his mates.
I was born in the wrong era!

I used to hang about some of the bellpark/norlane crew when i was 18-20. They would all be mid-late 30's now. Funny times.

				ROFL!
For the try out to be a member of the club, You have to reach 300km/h. Thats what i heard anyway.
300 is crazy, my cousin had a GT2, took me for a spin through sydney when i was 15, did almost 300, fucken sht myself!
Fastest ive got was 240 i recon, thats the speed limiter in the F6 lol being a ute it was fairly light but had no issue getting there, fasted ive had the xr was 225 and it felt fine
Speaking of speeding, i got done doing 157 in a 80 zone the other night... fucken cops.

hrm.. i done about 150 in my old EF was too scared to go any further coz it was shaking its tits off!
but in the BA the limiter comes in at 185, sticks to the road nicely aswell. Sooo close to 200 but no!
gets there pretty quick too =)

				why the limiter so low?
never had problem in dads ba xr6 cruising on 200
felt light as all crap tho.
i feel safer in my ed at 200 then in a new xr6

I went for a ride in my brothers M3. when he shifted into 6th gear at 250km/ph the wind noise and the handleing was like a my old XR6 @100km/ph with new suspension.
It was stock as a rock so id love to see what a lightly modified M3 would do at the end of 6th gear.

264 on the back of an 2008 Yamaha R1. Was my first time on a bike and my last time on a bike.
No need for that shit. Got tunnel vision, and the exhaust burnt my feet.
My advice, don't get a bike, or listen to your mate when he says "I'll go slow"
