Turbo_Wills boosted eb fairmont sleeper

Thought its about time i threw up a thread on my eb fairmont. Some of you may already no but we are the manufacturer of the turbo kits avaliable on a certain internet auction site. The car is nothing special to look at but it goes better than its appearance. Its suprised a few people, essentaially it looks the same as when i bought it for a grand sum of $200 haha. So far were just over 5grand all up inc the car and have just broken into the 11s with the mach 2 turbo kit at heathcote for the AFF drag nationals. Its the first time weve raced the car as SA has no drag strip :banghead: The car is registered and gets driven a heaps with a lot of r&d and testing purposes so it has a hard life but loves it.

It still uses many stock parts with only the essentials changed. The motor is a stock 236000kms eb bottom end with a 1.5mm decomp plate between 2x au headgaskets, stock ef head, crow double springs, wade 1521a cam, stock eb intake manifold with 60lb injectors, 044 copy fuel pump, el ecu with j3, 3" exhaust, stock btr auto with s3and4 removed, stock stall convertor with trans cooler, stock ignition, stock suspension and brakes, stock 3.23 diff gears with mini-spool, WI, full interior street trim inc tow bar. Best et was 11.9 best mph 117 and best 60ft 1.84. Best 0-100 on the street has been 4.6

Here are a few youtube vids of the car. 1st is a 0-100 in 4.65secs, 2nd is from heathcote hitting the limiter in 3rd for the skid, average launch and then cooler pipe blew off half track, sorry thats the only drag vid i can find so far.

THere are a few new turbo kit getting around, Have you noticed the other mob on ebay sellingone for $1100.

But in regards to your kit, well done mate. A few were giving you trouble about the quality of the parts used, but the bumbers dont lie. I guess we'll see how long it lasts :P But great time tho. How much power was it making to run that, Surely 230+rwkw?

Unfortunatelly its just self tuned and im no expert on that, timing was left at 16degrees on boost so nfi how much more it would take its to loud to hear any pinging. I suspect it needs way more down low to bring more boost on the stall, comp is prob 8:1 maybe a tad lower even. No idea on power at the moment should book in soon to recheck afrs etc. Last dyno was strapped down and pulled 240rwkw on 11-12psi with 2.5" flanged exhaust, no cam or springs etc. Haha this turbos still the original its been a slut this is the 3rd car its been on and its been happy on 14psi for a while now. Had up to 17psi but it was too lean as the pumps maxed out. Car is still on bp 98 too we get 100 octane e10 here might try that stuff soon. Wish i had some det cans it would make life a lot easier.

Ive seen the other ones you mention, its not really my place to coment on them and i have never seen them in the flesh. Ours are almost a full kit (just need cooler piping and fuel system/tuning and are proven with warranty. Im thinking about about reshelling this all into a nice black eb one day once im sick of the sleeper look and have the setup perfected.

nice work.
with a decomp plate and 2 AU gaskets your comp would be fair low. how thick is the decomp plate?
would be good to see how much more timing you could run and how it responds to it.

what turbo are you using.

Its a steel 1.5mm plate, were also throwing in about 400cc of water per min on boost so i suspect it will take more timing but not sure on the stock bottom end, one ping and bang boom  Turbo is nothing special just a plain bearing t3 flanged t70 on a log style manifold. Think im going to book some dyno time with a shop using det muffs and see what happens adding a bit at a time. Might by 20l of c16 and dial that in so i no for the future if i want to run it again, bloody expensive fuel though. We went through nearly a full tank of 98 in 21 passes over the weekend but thats with a lot of idling around waiting. I wish i had bought a stally, i was only leaving the line on less than 5psi most passes and about 6psi on the 11.9 pass at 2000rpm.

And psi-pop ran 11.49 on a btr auto thats bloody awesome i watched that run was very smooth!

Awesome work Fellas, shows just how a simple setup can very very effective. Good to see it break into the 11's on Saturday!

Was great to see this car representing E series at Heathcote on the weekend. It seems we got a decent reputation as the two cars surprising people and the two cars most on the rev limiter during burnouts.

man with low comp and a water spray setup you should be able to go over 20 degrees timing on boost.
i guess that depends on how much boost your running lol, must be around 14-15psi?
unless the heads been shaved heaps and it has EB pistons, the comp is probably below 8:1, so the setup should last if its tuned right, and obviously doing ok atm, well done.

Haha yea my mate said you were holding psi-pop on the limiter good an proper, nice! In the burnouts my trans hits the limiter in 1st and 2nd a good 2 or 3 times before upshift in drive then on the limiter in 3rd. I think we done alright with our standard btrs. Boost is 14psi keen to wind it out to 20 once its getting more fuel supply, see how long they last on high boost probably not long, shaft speeds would be through the roof for a bush bearing turbo. Yea its not been shaved much and eb pistons. Wonder how much more power it would make. It was running 22degrees on 12psi and went hard till i changed dissy and base timing ended up being 26degrees and popped the graphite headgaskets thats when i went mls and chicken with timing!
