Shauny's EL

Postby Shauny13 » September 17th, 2014, 9:32 pm

Ok so I've owned my EL for a little over 2 weeks now and the mods began on day 2 of ownership.

Bought it off the original owners (elderly couple) for $1200 with 12 months rego. Has 212,000ish on the clock and is extremely clean inside an out.

So first thing I did was detail it inside out, it's been clay bar'd and waxed and engine bay cleaned within an inch of its life. I still want to have the interior steam cleaned.

Then I removed the mud flaps and hub caps. Decided on painting the stockies up silver as I don't plan on getting any rims for it and I like the stockies look for the wank factor.

Then out with the stock headunit and in went a Sony headunit I had laying around, also a Sony sub, jvc amp and Sony 3 ways in the rear parcel shelf. Basic system but does the job nicely.

Ordered a 2.5in catback from tuffcarparts on eBay (excellent price, quality and service)
I ended up cutting the rear tailpipe section just before the diff and fitted a dump tip so it faces downward. Sounds very different, much deeper drones a lot but hey what do you expect it's an n/a 6 haha

Next I changed the headlight bulbs to cheapy 6000k xenons, bright white led number plate light and white led interior light. Plan on doing the same thing to the speedo to keep the theme going later on.

Then I put her on the dyno at JC racing and made 110rwkws woo!

Up next was a basic service (spark plugs, airfilter and oil change)

At the moment I have the rocker cover off being painted (will put pics up tomorrow)
Top of the intake manifold is off along with tb which will be getting cleaned too.
I have new leads I plan on fitting tomorrow after work.

Every single car I've owned I've put rims on haha I really really want to keep these, white walls sound good I've never had them before.

Here's my future to do list:

Tint- should be getting it soon for the warmer weather.

Extractors and cat section of the exhaust-

Finish the front springs-

Dash LEDs ect-

Homemade shift kit-

That's really it... for now, I DO plan on boosting this when I'm off my p's (this time next year) and was the sole purpose of buying it. So I'll start collecting boost parts and ill write up a to do list for that later on.

As I said in my introduction I have two other baby's

Image

2000 gt forester, I have an exemption to drive. Makes 182awkws this is my daily most of the time and is extremely violent to drive, I am completely done trying to make it quicker because this is all ill ever need on the street!

Image

Next is my 2007 bf xr6, which is now my gfs car.. Basically she said if I wanted get my forester I'd have to give her this or sell it haha no way am I selling! So yes she owns it now and I get to still drive it. It made 130rwkws, stock apart from rims and 2.5in exhaust.

Don't have those plates anymore because they were gett g expensive!

And for the lol's this was my first car (owned 7 so far) and yes I bought it like this I never did a thing to it haha lucky it had the 1.8 injected model and was fairly quick, great little car. I've since owned another one, I'll try find pics later.

Ok some bad news....

That 10mm nut I managed to drop in the motor has come back to bite me in the bum, I have ceased the motor.. it is completely my fault haha

But on atleast now I have the excuse to pull the motor and build a new one full of goodies.

You may now proceed to flame me...

Ok so today I'm going to pull the rocker cover off and check the timing chain and head to see if the nut if caught under anything because I think it's most likely jammed in something not seized for good so there may be hope yet!

The problem...

So my guess is the 10mm nut went under the timing chain and when it got to the tensioner? (Correct me if I'm wrong) and broke it off the bolt into a few pieces, I'll be taking it to my mechanic during the week to see what we can do.
