Plenty of people know him. It's not for sale,and if it is, You won't be the first to know. I'm pretty sure Kristy has shotgun rights to the car!

Yeah i'm fairly certain Dave's got no interest in selling, hence why its gone into storage and not carsales.

Daves XR8 is an inspiration! i rate it up there with Jeff's XH as a car that made me WANT to own an EL XR8. I enjoy driving mine with the knowledge that out there are cars of the same type that are tough as nails

EL XR8 wrote:Finally an update!!!

Car is back in VIctoria. Big thanks to Steady, for flying up, having a few beers at my crib and then driving it back with me a few months ago.
Had a leaking steering rack on the way back. Thanks to the guys who did the rebuild a couple of years ago!!!
Jared is pretty well spot on with the stuff i want to do.
*Clean up and polish the FR's, as there are a 2 rims with small buckles (Thanks Canberra roads!), get that all sorted out, so they''re 110% again.
*FInally wire up the dual battery setup, completely rip out the stereo, and rehash it all, with a decent looking and sounding setup in the boot mainly, but also the cabin side of things.
Re-do any bushes, etc that need to be done. Shouldn't cause they're all newish.
*Replace all the suspension, maybe raise the front with some Superlows, rather than the Ultra's that are in it atm.
*Rebuild a completely new diff, with 3.45's or 3.7's, with potentially a Kaaz i reckon.
*Clean up anything else to make it into what i always wanted it to look like.
*Perhaps clean up the engine bay a bit, but its still gonna look ugly, until i can rip the motor out. But its still running strong for the moment, and if its coming out, it will be off the the road for a while, cause i wont do it half arsed for whatever goes back in.
(Always had a 351 stroked to a 420+ cube, then turboed as an idea. But i reckon i'll want something that'll rev!
But this will be a long way off yet!

John, i had the main guy from Strret Fords leave a business card on my car when it was parked at the Nats a few years back for a mag spread. Rang him, and had a chat, but then never got around to doing it all.
Maybe when it's all done this time...
I've still got the pics you and Kristy took of the car, in frames around my place. Glad you both got a drive of it when you guys were up here!

The FR's aren't under lock and key. I've never even had lock nuts on them for years. LOL
They're Steady's to use for a while, until I get this thing back on the road!

Hey dave, how are all these changes going?

A little update...

Car has been getting some work done at the moment.

Finally brought it out of the shed. Getting a few things that arent really all that interesting done. Just stuff that needed to be done after sitting for 2 years. Like:
* New power steering rack.
* Power steering pump getting flushed or replaced, if needed.
* New rear discs.
* Tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints.
* Just getting it serviced and everything flushed, etc.
* Pedders Coilovers going in.
* Getting the FR's cleaned up and re-polished.
* I've ripped the stereo out of the boot, and am going to re-wire it all, hopefully with a decent looking boot install.
New TV headunit, new subs, new amps should be on their way soon.

So nothing too interesting going on just yet, although i'm keen to see how the Coilovers go...

The old girl just needed a little TLC after sitting for so long. So much easier to drop it off my my mechanic to play around with, especially when i have few tools to work on it, and cant really be bothered doing it on my weekends off in Melbourne.

Don't have to do anything to keep this thread interesting.

So good to see you haven't gotten over it like so many others over the years.

Gonna be sweet to rock up to the shop and have it all ready to enjoy.

Good to see it's still going Dave - still remember taking us for a spin down Geelong-ish way...tough!

Hope to see it around the traps again.

Yeah Max, sounds good. Spoke to the mechanic working on it, and they've hardly touched it. Seems to be the old, i dont need it for a month, so they havent really done anything yet. So i'll have to give them a rev up.
Thanks Steve, Yeah its still going. Have thought of pulling the pin once or twice.
How's the Sparkler going?

I know the feeling Dave haha!

Not too bad mate - bottom end a bit tired these days (doesn't like high boost ~17 psi). Has done well on the stock bottom end, so will probably give it some love one of these days :)

Thats alright though, it's lasted a fair while on the stock bottom end.
They all need a little love after a while of coping with that much boost!
