The TCU or ECU is picking up that the car is struggling to accelerate, so it holds the gear. If it goes to the next gear it'll be struggling harder, so the TCU knows it's sht.

Once u fix issue with the gas it'll be all good. Sounds like "performance" mixtures are set too lean or the mixer is stuffed. WHat mixer is it? 200? 225?

Thanks for that. I looked them up and they have a 55/100 regular light plus a 100w high beam. They sound impressive. Does the stock wiring cope with that kind of output?

Ill look into getting a set after my rwc is done. I dont really want to fit the spotlights if I dont have to.

I thought mobile phone antennas went out of fashion with house brick sized mobile phones?

The antenna I have will be fine hidden under the rear window in the tray.

My usual mechanic cant do a rwc because its on gas. :( I predict many headaches.

The gas was only fitted last year so the tank is in date but I may as well just get it done elsewhere. Its just a pita now because I wanted the other guy to fix the brakes and windscreen and do the rwc all at once. Now I may as well do the brakes myself on the weekend, get the windscreen fixed myself then take it for a rwc.

More effort ftl.

how bad is the windscreen?
i took mine in with a 10cm crack and it still passed. but mine runs along the bottom of the windscreen though.. there were a few things that were overlooked on mine and still passed and werent exactly rwc. (front shocks were fucked, also leaked oil badly too)
just make sure its got a covered rear no plate light. i got knocked on that, so i'd fittled one of those led trailer lights to get through rwc

lol yet to try atms.
its killed 2 roos so far. 3rd hopped away after stufiing the radio antenna and mirror. i aim for the mofos now after hitting 2 in the ea

The screen has 2 small chips in it.

I found a place around the corner from me to do the rwc on Thursday so Ill see what they have to say about it. The rear brakes were replaced on Friday so it doesnt make grindy noises anymore. :)

I bought a new cover for the tray, replaced the throttle cable and fitted an S pack cluster on the weekend. It's ready for autosalon.

The last mods will be a wider plank to push the bike up and more tie downs so I can fit the bike in on an angle and close the tailgate.

Thanks, having a ute is handy as.

I put an S pack cluster in it a few weekends ago because the gli spec cluster it had was gay and the odometer didnt work.

It seems to get pretty good economy compared to the mav. It was on the last green light when I put the new cluster in and it did 150kms before it ran out of gas. Im testing the petrol economy now. Exciting stuff. :P

I fitted a new tray cover.

I also made a start on derusting the tray yesterday. I ripped out the removable section and hit it with a wire wheel attached to the grinder to get all the surface rust off then covered it in some brush on rust converter/primer. It is supposed to get rid of the rust and leave a black surface that is ready for painting.

Does anyone know of anything durable I can paint it with so it doesnt get scratched up and rust again?

Can you get plastic liners for these things?

I don't know the proper name, but I've helped do a few trays with stuff called chicken sh1t. Spray on, durable as hell. And you can't stuff it coz it looks like crap anyway.

VHT.

Serious answer - I'm not sure about off-the-shelf plastic/rubber uteliners, but maybe give somewhere like Clark Rubber a go. Although surely there's a place that sells liners for XD-XH utes.

Thanks guys, Ive seen that bird sht stuff before.

I might just paint it black and touch it up all the time. I want to make the removable section hinged with a lock on it so I can store stuff next to the fuel tank. There is heaps of room under there.
