Hahaha yeah I'm a bit amature when it comes to launching, but practice makes better I 'spose!! hahaha. I'm pretty much hooked on drag racing now though, I've never had so much fun behind the wheel of a car.

Plans at the moment are just to get a retune at 20psi and hope for somewhere around/over 400hp, then that'll keep me happy for a long time I think! Also I want to ditch the GTR wing and put either the standard box type wing or a little lip spoiler, not sure which one yet. I think the GTR wing looks alright, but I'm just not a fan of mixing body panels between different models etc. same as falcons with fpv kits and commodores with hsv kits, just doesn't do much for me hahaha.

You shouldnt have to run 20psi to make 400hp my mates rb25 s13 makes that on 16psi.

I gota say I like the gtr wing on it. it seems to suit it

It's been a while since an update so here goes...

Got a new clutch and ran a 12.6 @ 113.9

Bought some Tomei cams which I haven't done anything with...still waiting for motivation to get them in and get it tuned.

Popped a coilover last night so I just ordered some new BC fully adjustables, and will get some camber bars for the IRS so I can get some man-launches happening.

Got some fancy photos too!

Re: New toy! 500hp here we come!

Postby juiceman » September 8th, 2010, 4:05 pm

Alright so time for an update. The retune thing never happened. Long story short, I ordered a RIPS RB30 bottom end with some extra goodies inside plus a high capacity sump. RB30's require an extra oil gallery for the VCT in an RB25 head, but rather than do that I've been a man about it and I am converting the head to solid lifter which gives me more cam choices. This means the Tomei Poncams are being sold (bigtim...you know you want them!) and I've ordered some Tomei Procams (270deg 10.25mm), solid lifters and Tomei valve springs rated at 9500rpm.

I was going to have the head ported and put some bigger valves in but it really isn't necessary for what I want the car to do, plus I think I've already spent enough money on it this year!

I've also scabbed the fuel set up and Cryo sprayer bar and two bottles from the leftovers of slo_sprints Skyline build. Basically I will be easily happy with 500hp, and if the turbo gets tired I'll go for a Borg Warner S366 or S400.

nice car! Not bad for 350hp. (Why does it say 500hp in topic? only reason why I came in here to read :D )

I'd like a 1.9 60ft at least, it can launch quite well with a decent clutch so it's not out of reach! Although with the new set up I think I'll just aim for big mph to start with haha.

It says 500hp because of the post just about yours.

Cheers Josh! I can't wait to hear it on gate with muuuuch more boost! Kieren's JZ gate wins though...

If you loosen off the V-band clamps you should be able to rotate the gate and the pipe to get it to all line up, I'd say the gate outlet has to point a little more towards the block and then you should get a fairly straight shot at the dump pipe.

Of course, that's assuming you like boys - hetros never run plumbed back gates ;)

I would lose my shit if it made 600hp on that turbo, but that's pretty much impossible. 550hp would be maxing the turbo out like crazy I'd imagine. If I ever get brain damage an S372 will find its way on somehow.

Hey Rollin, yeah no boy love here mate hahaha. Can't wait to gate cabbies again.

Re: New toy! 500hp here we come!

well depends on everythin really.

few boys on the xr6t forums pushing 420rwkw with this turbo. Plenty pushing 390rwkw. These are internal gated lets remember. and on c16 should be close to the 600hp!

anyway lets see how you go. gl with it and i hope you get over 500 :) I personally think you got what it takes in the build (if the bottom end and v/springs will hold up). Just make sure you got a big ass exhaust and cat!

Big ass exhaust, check. Cat...ummm...nah **** the cat hahahaha. Rob (God) from RIPS said this exact block/head combo with the same internal mods has seen 700hp before, and they've used it in a drift car at 500hp and haven't had any catastrophic failures in the whole 3 years they've used it, plus an R32 they've got with the same combo at 600hp that gets driven every day. It'll hold up at 550hp for me no worries!
I heart rips.
