looking awesome. i used midas in morayfield 16 months ago and i learnt never to take my car anywhere i didnt know... i went in for a simple brake pad change on 1 caliper (got the other one done but couldnt get 1 bolt loose) and a brake bleed and flush. upon dropping it off i said it has ABS and id like the ABS unit flushed... got the car back, overcharged and took airbox off to see ABS nipples covered in dry dirt still... wasnt impressed, but im glad to see its not a aus wide issue with them.

the car looks awesome with the new wheels

Right, finally after a heap of farking round with adapters and having to get them machined to take new hd studs and spending way too much freaking money, finally the 19s are on the slowboat.

Image

Image
do they rub? you might ask... well, yes, they rub. they rub lots lol. i need to pump the front guards a bit, plus take a heat gun to the inner guards cos they rub there too.
Image

im gonna go price up some 235/30s next week (if they even exist?) and see how bad the rubbing is then. i dont mind a little rubbing a on full lock, but not like this lol.

i don't think the wheels are the issue, its the ride height.

oh its definitly the ride height, no doubt about it. but im damned if im gonna lift it up again, i reckon the height is pretty much spot on as it is.

so a little effort to minimise the rubbing and it will be all gravy.

lol, no way, im not a fan of the no spoiler look on these, i reckon they look too plain with nothing, looks like a gli. i even briefly entertained a gt spoiler. then a el sharkfin spoiler, but nah, i like this one. subtle enough with only a tiny portion of rice.

yeah true. the rears are probably just over half worn, so im gonna need two anyway. so the fronts will go on the back, and smaller tyres on the front.

car is definately looking good, i like the wheels but i reckon ftr's would be even better... dunno y. original but slammed look lol
as for tyres, i have maxxis 235 / 35 on my 19's, cost 300 each coz its an odd size tyre and i don't have too many issues with ssl's (i did before i rolled the guards tho) once rolled, they rub a bit here n there but all good.

im running 245/35s, i think thats the problem, plus theyre 8.5 inch wide rims, so pushes them that little bit closer to the guards.

i have a pic of it on the ftrs... too low.

picked up a el grill the other day, so today i decided to pull finger and see how it looked...

Image

i had planned to paint the coloured section poly' green to match the car, but damned if i could find any in a rattle can, so i did it in gun metal grey instead. looks ok imho. one bonus is it gets rid of a couple of big ugly stone chips that always irritated the fark out of me.

Image

one surprise i got was how heavy the ef grill is compared to the el one, must have been at least double the weight.

cheers, its pretty much how i want it now. a bit more power would be nice but that will get expensive real fast, so il probably just do the last few minor things i wanna do then start saving for something else.

right, figured id have a go at the inner guards today, since its getting kind of embarassing every time i have to do a turn cos the noise from the torn inners is so loud...

hmm, maybe i should bag it, looks good this low...
Image

you can see in this pic where its rubbing
Image
Image
i pulled the inner out to see what was behind it, so i knew how much room there was. not much, bloody abs.

it turns out when it comes to heat guns im fairly hopeless. i just couldnt control the heat enough to reshape it, it either melted or didnt bend.

so in true kiwi style, if you cant fix it, get rid of it.
Image

lucky i dont use the car much, i hate to think how much crud will build up in there.
il go to the wreckers and get a pair of good inners, and have another go. plus i really need to hurry up and get new tyres for it, that will probably stop it rubbing anyway. :banghead:
