Well i think its about time i get some pics up of the lane without its mudflaps and a couple of interior shots also,

Image,

also im thinking of converting the lane to V8 as the drivetrain in this is tired, is it just a matter of doing wiring and engine/trans swap over or is there more to it ie: k-frame etc?

cheers

V8 swaps in EF/EL's only require the engine, wiring, trans, and heater hoses, as well as the V8 thermos fans as they operate differently to the standard EF/EL thermos fans

K-Frame swaps are only required on early e-series

and what the hell has happened to your carpet? it must just be living up to the crappa name

Hmmmm something to think about, a bit of news also it was my 21st yesterday so did sweet bugger all, but i was informed today that some of my fueling and under powered problems could be due to some timing issues, so im going to a mates place shortly to hit it with a timing light and see if that shows anything.

Also if anyone is interested in a 7x4 fully inclosed box trailer with rego let me know, ill get some pics up tomorrow.

Well looks like the V8 conversion will happen as ive just been offered a V8 auto, engine bay loom, plus ecu, so now all i need is the motor, and exhaust and i should be pritty sweet to do the conversion, also on another not i get my old green car back so the tinted windows, LSD and AU seat are coming out plus a few other bits that i need, so the lane is making progress.

Now i have some 6cyl parts to get rid of so ill make a for sale thread about that tomorrow.

Cant wait for the V8 im sooo excited.

Yea i have been thinking of doing some work before she meets the car, im not rushing on the build as i havent gotten a engine yet but as soon as i find some parts to go onto her i will grab them and find a engine as i want to basically rebuild it before it goes in so its nice and fresh, and i dont want to go stroker yet as this is my first V8 and my budget is very tight for this conversion.

I wouldnt be doing the conversion if the other stuff wasnt at a bargain price.

small update, the lane had some body work done to her now the dint in the sill and rear quarter are now fixed, i will get pics when this weather clears up as its filthy right now, and i have just scored a diff for it with a set of 3.9's and a mini spool for the pricely sum of $200, i pick it up friday night and will get new top control arms either threw work or a wrecker as its a EF diff and mine has the EL one in it and the top arms are different.

Re: The New NL Fairlane

Postby URZ2NV » December 5th, 2010, 3:59 pm

Well the new diff is in (with its fair share of issues) and took if for a lap last night and must say its not the most comfy thing to ride in now due to the spool but will see what i will do with that later, at this stage i have some big ????????? about the lane.

Ok first after we had our fun i was on the highway doing 120km/hr and my rpm was sitting on 2200/2300 rpm now keep in mind i have just thrown 3.9's in, so i was thinking about it and mates that have 3.9's in there cars are sitting at almost 3 grand at them speeds which is what i was hopeing/expecting, so now it seems to me as if the box is hiding the fact that i have new gear ratio in there, as doing 60km/hr i am doing 1500rpm which is exactly the same as to when i had the standard 3.23 ratio in there, so something is telling me something is very wrong.

I was out at liverpool last night so i went and seen Joe from cresent motor whilst i was down there and he has sed there is something very wrong for it to be getting only 400kms to a tank, so he has suggested i throw a scan tool on there to see if any codes come up at all if not to take it to someone/him to check out AFR's, vaccum and timing all at the same time whilst its on the rollers.

Now my question is, is joe right? and is there anything i can do to make the gearbox not go into translock whilst driving or do i have to get a new box?

All your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Josh

This may sound like a stupid question, but have you rigged up a speedo corrector? If not it will be reading wrong.

First of all i will be looking at a speeo corrector very shortly as the lane will be going on its major voyage around australia in the new year, so now things have to happen and stuff has to go so the 20's are up for sale/swaps for a set of 18's or $1000 as i have just replaced the 2 front tyres but rears will need to be done.

Anyway i will start a for sale thread shortly and keep updating with stuff that has to go so i can travel.

Cheers
