we were on saturday trav.. but i had to take it home. havent played with the cam at all, still std xr6 cam.

it isnt 180 deg out either.. we lifted the front of the rockercover to make sure we were at tdc 1.. so i may of gotten it a tooth advanced by accident (its the first au motor ive worked on)

if only au motors had a timing mark on the front case.... all what they have is the tdc one.
much easier to see if i have muffed it up with a timing light with the ign mark on the timing cover

i hope they get it sorted for you mate.. wish i was closer cos then i'd be there helping

AU motors are timed exactly the same as e-series, and its 2 revolutions of the camshaft to 1 of the crankshaft

EL ECU is 0deg base, with the ECU in diagnostic mode, but you have to wait for it to finish going through the codes before it locks timing.

Has to be something simple... To run rough as guts on idle then make the exhaust glow red as soon as any Throttle is given... Blocked fuel filter or something

Trying a different ECU tomorrow, it's had a new filter, coil, injectors, fuel pump, regulator, timing and plugs, and MAP sensor. car is running too rich and the temp now is reading as high so possibly a cooked ECU, i will know tomorrow.

ECU doesnt send the temp to the gauge, as I said if the dash is wrong either your dash or sensor is out or you have a wiring problem...

currently at CVE getting a few gremlins ironed out plus a tune, we tried an ECU replace and that did fix all the main drama's, now has a misfire on one cylinder somewhere, the overfuelling has probably fouled up a plug, nothing major, waiting to hear back from Paul for any more updates.

That's awesome as, was rapt when I got the call this morning telling me that it's all sweet to go, I plan to get the diff done in the next month or so, then the handbrake will be all sweet and we can give it a full tune, i'll hopefully have a cam and extractors by then :P

Thanks Shaun :), wouldn't have done it without the help of my mates(A lot of them on here, they know who they are :P), they helped me get this far. I hope to get a few of the cosmetic things fixed over the weeks just a matter of sourcing them and that :P

It was a major relief, PITA was I didn't have an ECU spare to test it with, gave it a swap at CVE and it started first go with a misfire, but that got sorted anyway.

I reckon put the standard lights back in it with the fairmont garnish rather than the tinted ones. Gives it a cleaner look IMO.

I remember getting the tinted ones so they didn't look as old, problem with my old ones were they were getting too faded for my liking, once i give the car a proper wash n that i'll probably decide from there.
