lol this one was 2500, and we now know why lol. MINT! driveline, no oil anywhere underneath, 3.45 LSD ticky motor LPG all 100% perfect... but the paint is a 2 year olds spraygun job, crows feet, bubbles, flaking and a bubble with rust behind it. shame about the paint as everything else is perfect. even has extractors and exhaust.

but add 2-3k for a paint job ( as it will have to be stripped back ALOT ) and the cheap 2500 EL XR6 turns into an expensive XR6.

he is hunting around still, needs something with a towbar that looks neat, but doesnt want to spend over 4-5k as its just a weekend tow vehicle, he drives his GT-P during the week

Thanks mate, means a lot.

Hey Huggie,
Unfortunately sold now but there was a decent looking EF XR8 sitting on station road in Burpengary for sale about 2 or 3 months ago.
Was red, low and had some nice looking 19's on it. only problem was it was auto.
Pointless I know telling you now :D but it just sounded like what your bro is looking for.

ok, well no updates and sticker is still on there :P lol
BUT, I did go out tonight and take some pics with both my car and my brothers car.

They are in the same spot (and almost same position) as the photos I took of mine, but we didn't have enough time to go searching for another location.

I forget what I charged for that one a few years ago but it was kinda a one off, I don't have any time to draw anymore unfortunately, I should sit down and get back into it one day tho, haven't even drawn my car yet lol.

All good - guys

huggiebear wrote:any more info on that shaker setup?

I haven't got any pics, and at the moment it is still a bit dodgy (after all it has only been 6 months - you can't rush these things :rotfl: )

Basically the shaker sits on top of a metal insulated box which sits on the rocker cover.
Inside the shaker/box is a pod filter which is connected to a short heat resistant pipe which goes through a hole in the side of the shaker/box straight to the throttle body.

Hard to explain without pics .

essentially

Cheers mate,
That day, I think the paint on mine was as good as it will ever get without a full respray.
in the right light - it really made the 7 hours or so cleaning up and polishing the car worth it.

Have got a weekend of doing bugger all at now, so I will see if I can bring up the wheels a bit.
They have quite a bit of brake dust embedded in them.

i know how that feels, mine need a respray due to dodgy respray in the past which has resulted in the paint getting eaten away by brake dust..

Yeah, I am thinking of trying to get a small round piece of foam (buffing pad sort of thing)
and attaching it somehow to a drill bit.
should make trying to polish it easier and more effective.

If I succeed at all I will post up before and afters of a wheel.

Thanks dylby1,

I didn't get anywhere with my wheels the other day (in fact I managed to scratch one a little bit - not that noticeable though)
But I am going to go and get it checked out sometime this week or next by the mechanics,
It seems to have recently become a little clunky when changing gears and occasionally makes a knocking sound when slowing down and putting it in neutral. (can feel this too)
I am having a guess that it may be the diff - but I'm not really sure.

*This noise and the clunking are coming from the same place, and I am sure it is the same thing. Definitely coming from rear*

If they can't find anything specific, I might just get them to change diff oil and see if that helps at all.

any advice would be much appreciated though :drinks2:

Ok, well I have not really done anything else except given it another polish since last time -
has only been a month and a half but it had seen a lot of rain, dirt and therefore a fair bit of car wash.

So of course feeling sick as a dog today I decided to go for a bit of a drive.
Ended up in Maleny, and the views up that way are fantastic.
Just thought I would share some more photos - sorry of all these photos and no mods, but a photo costs bugger all.

I took all the spots out of the other pics - but this one shows how badly I need to clean my camera sensor.

Haha, cheers
I think if it was any lower I would not have been able to get into the exact same position.
Can't really see it in that photo, but it is sitting diagonally on a bit of a 'v'
Didn't notice it until I was already in it because of the grass.

still doesn't look as bad as it was in this pic - but as you can see the rear wheel has dropped a fair bit, the passengers side wheel was at the guard (should have got a pic)

as for boost.

At the moment most of what I make goes into fuel, and the rest I am saving for when rego and insurance come around.
I would get another job, but I think getting decent marks in grade 12 is more important then doing a few things to my car that I can do when I eventually have enough.

Spent a few hours this evening working on the quarter glass rubbers
I think all I up I was stuffing around for 3 hours.

originals
Image

This one was worse, but didn't look that way because it was all even
Image

sanded back first with 150, then 400. I left it at 400 as I thought the paint would probably go on better and a little texture isn't too bad.
Image

sprayed over, sanded back with 400 again and sprayed again. I was happy just with the two coats so I left it at that
(the small bubbles at the bottom left are masking tape on the rear window surround, not the quarter glass black.)
Image

Image

I did the rubber below the rear windscreen a week ago as well.
used 150 grit and then 800 before spraying it
before
Image

after
Image

Dad and I also fixed up the front bar a bit using a buff, touch up paint and polish.

Only time my brother has even driven my car he broke my cruise on/off button.
Was probably about this time last year. Cruise still worked, it was just the plastic that broke off.

I bought some cruise control buttons a while ago (grey ones are a PITA to find, they're all bloody black! or cappa)
with the intention of taking it to an auto electrician to stick them in, as I wasn't keen on anything to do that was close to the air bag.
Call me a wuss :P

But this afternoon I thought bugger it, I will look through some threads and do it.

So after disconnecting - terminal and leaving it for a bit (just in case)
I moved the airbag out of the way
Image

Proceeded to take out the old cruise buttons
Image

Put in the new ones and put it all back again - very happy. :drinks2:

When he broke mine I was gonna pinch the ones off his car.
But of course his like most out there are black not grey. :(

I just let it go as I figured it was probably bad luck and would have happened to me anyway.
Didn't pay that much for them either, it was just finding them in grey that was the problem
