Woohoo!!

Another Wagon!

Have a gander through my thread for ideas.

A few other suggestions are:

EL Wagon side carpeted panels and carpeted tailgate panel.

EL Tail lights.

A Redback 2.5" exhaust, is cheap and effective.

Lowering Blocks for the rear.

Fairmont seats and the usual Ghia upgrades.

Cheers
BenJ

thanks for the comments guys, anyone know what would be a good size for blocks to put on the back and wat springs i should use for the front?

depends what look your after. i think benj has 2 or 2.5 in the rear ans superlows in the front which is what im going in a few weeks.

but this setup is quite low, if you after a nice sleek look then just go the 1-1.5" blocks in the rear and lows in the front.

the problem with blocks is if i want my rear to tuck tyre i need to drop it 4" as i have heavy duty towing springs which lift the rear above the louds, where as stock sit a fair bit lower, but are softer

yeah i was thinking 2 or 2.5 but then it may be anoying at some stages being low but i also have shocks on the back so i can raise the back end if needed.. im tossing up between the 2 and 1.5 i think.

have u got any pictures of ur wagon?

where can i find pics of Mr EL Venom's EL wagon?

when you lower it get a rear sway bar.
looks nice another thing you could do is get a lokka as they are sweet.(don't know why i sold mine).

whats a lokka mate?

it basically locks the 2 rear axels together, like a LSD, but alot harder to handle. there has been alot of cars written off as people didnt treat a locked diff with respect. however, get some driving skills and learn to handle it and you will never want a stock diff again

it only locks when you up it if you drive like a granny then its like a single spinner.
they are not that hard to drive with. much better than a spool.

Open Differentials and Limited Slip Differentials (LSD's) are designed to distribute enqine torque proportionately to the wheels, allowing the wheels to travel at different rotational speeds when cornering on hard road surfaces or travelling over very uneven ground.

When turning on a hard surface, "open" and LSD differentials use the outside wheel to drive the vehicle, while the inside wheel is allowed to "differentiate" or travel a shorter distance around the turn. The very nature of their design however is detrimental in relation to their ability to deliver equal torque to both wheels, hence traction and 4WD off road ability is severely handicapped.

LOKKA will perform the same as open and LSD differentials when the vehicle is driven under equal traction conditions, ie on road. The LOKKA allows the wheels to "differentiate" around the turn, but reverses the operation in that it transfers the engine torque (hence drive) to the inside wheel, rather than the outside wheel.

Wheel slippage or a loss of traction can occur for many reasons offroad and include ; excess throttle, fast approach speeds, limited wheel travel and negotiation of obstacles that exceed suspension travel (especially independent front suspension vehicles), weight transfer off drive wheels and slippery surfaces such as mud, sand, snow, shale, wet grass etc.

Under these circumstances both the normal and even LSD differentials will allow the wheels with the least resistance to spin. Thus the wheels with traction do not obtain any real drive and the vehicle will lose speed or stop. LSDs will assist under these circumstances but only if they are in good condition and only if there is enough resistance on the spinning wheels to activate the clutch pack and allow drive to the wheels with traction. Contrary to popular belief, even a new LSD will allow a lifted wheel to spin freely with no drive to the wheel with traction.

The LOKKA drives both wheels except when the vehicle is turning on a hard surface, so that irrespective of suspension, transmission or engine type, all wheels are being driven equally therefore the vehicles traction (or 4WD offroad ability) is significantly improved.

so from this i notice lokka = good skids..?

how much wouls an lsd or lokka cost to put on the wagon?

LSD's range from about 250 upwards depending on ration, trying to find one from a ute or wagon is the hard part. the other option is find an EB to AU LSD center and have it fitted to your diff housing

i think i will look into it after i do a few other mods, sounds like a good idea tho :)

and if you get a lsd then the rear sway bars dont fit if i remember correctly.
and lokkas arnt hard to drive with. but they can bite if you dont pay enough attention.

how would a LSD prevent a sway bar from fitting? the diff cases are identical and a LSD is just an internal center... :?:

i was under the impression that the ute/wagon one is different and they didnt fit.

how strange. i have fitted a LSD to a stock housing... i dont see what would differ with a LSD housing, unless he bought it for the wrong model or something. i dunno

oh actually come to think of it.. the 3.08 or 2.77 diff housings are smaller, we had that issue trying to fit an LSD center into an AU 3.08 diff housing. well the center is the same but the gears are different.

so id say the bars were made for 3.08 diff and he has a 3.23 diff and it wont fit over...

oh and i think somethings wrong wit the drive shaft or someting, the tyres at the back dont line up properly, ( the drivers side rear is tucked further under the guard and the passangers side sits out, plus its hit an intrusion zone for the airbag to have gone off
