the cams on offer quote power up to 6500 to 7000 rpm, depending on what you go with.....
i would'nt be doing that rpm with my std bottom end

well it'd be good, but it's already been done (and very well at that), as well as another member here is about to do it also

i wish scotty :beg: i'm led to beleive it's the oil pump ?
i've heard the same noise on a few 5.4's that are free reving, so are'nt to worried about it.
the phaser noise is the "knock....knock....knock.....who's there" noise at idle.

you may find the 'charger' noise is actually the sprag in the converter. or gearbox related.
the phaser is usually most noticeable at about 1500rpm in nuetral.

a couple more part's came over from the state's earlier this week in the form of 2 new cam phaser's, or "cam position sensor's" as they say over there ;)
i was quoted $600+ each from ford here, the best i could find on the net from aust was $385 each + postage from perth.
thanks to a link to a ford dealer's ebay site in the state's from another forum, i got 2 of them and shipping to my door for just over $420

Image
Image

i've already got the phaser limiter's (for bigger cams) to suit these, so now it's just deciding what cam's i'm going to go with and order them

i'm still to workout what i want to do with the std silver part's..(shifter base/icc, rear air con vent's etc) :write:
i was first thinking of the piano black that's in the bf, but like most.... i want something that is a bit different ;)
i've a couple of idea's in mind... watch this space !!!!!

another good buy from the state's came in today.....
a timing chain kit for us$135.00 + postage (cheaper with the oz $)
the kit contains, CRANK GEAR (1) | TIMING CHAIN (2) | TIMING GUIDE (4) | TENSIONER (2)

the part's list is getting smaller, which leads to the power getting bigger (soon)

a nice bit of info i came by on another forum in regards to the 5.4's

"This may have already been answered, but, as the lads at Bluepower and I found out a fair while back, the bottom ends are the same except for (and buggers me why) oil pumps were/are better in the 3V and pistons (Dish for 260 Boss, Dome for 290 Boss and Flat Tops for the 3V)."

i picked up the same timing chain kit as you, will swap that over in the 3V before i pull it, just to make sure its in decent nick before its pulled.

bargain price!

the whole kit is less than one tensioner that i've found in oz,
with shipping from the state's not much more than getting one tensioner from W.A

http://www.norcom.net.au/~bpt/modular_ford_parts.htm

so the 4V-turbo swap in kristy's 'mont is a while off yet ?

I'm still waiting on some parts, and i'd rather know that the old motor is ok before i pull it out.
atleast that way i can sell it knowing its good, or keep it as a spare.

not much going on with this atm.... still getting "go-fast" bit's for it
i've had a bit of a chuckle to myself tonight ....... after many week's of having the steelie's on
in the past couple of day's i've had a flat in one & a slow leak in one other, so put two std LTD rim's on the front ;)
well.....in the past 24hrs.... i've been pulled over twice  for having "burnout tyre's" on the rear
then after the routine check's, get told to change them asap and be on my way

I have found the opposite...I drive around with a full set of wheels on the ED and get pulled over on 'random checks' but I drove round for a month with stockies on the rear and didn't get looked at twice...go figure...
