Hi all,

Many don't know what Paul had before his 'V8Capri', infact some may not even know the Capri.

Anyway, I met paul when he was turning his LPG Daily coupe into a drag car. Keep in mind that this was over 10 years ago.

In street trim at Heathcote.

Getting ready to attend the Nationals at calder.

Good eye mate.

XB doors, fairlane front, etc.
Wasn't stock...

It was converted back to a streeter and sold.

Wow, This brings back memories.
These pics are from 1994.
Back then the car ran 12.6 1/4 mile.
Back then that was fast !
Was my daily, I would driveit to calder, switch it to petrol race and drive home !
That had had so many non std items on it, let alone the xb doors !
It was white with blue pearl, made it look quite different.
Things you did on apprentice wages !

This car I put a 302 clevo witha single rail and a b/w diff in. and a lady from down phillip island way came and bought it at 10 pm one night !
she was in stilletos and had never driven a manual before, was quite a funny sight.
Sure would love to get it back now !
Used to spend my wage at Rare spares to get the panels for it !

Naa Gilly I didn'y buy it. I am on my 2nd coupe and both are XB's.

The car certainly brings back memories. There was a process to follow on Friday nights.

1. Paul and I leave work. Drive to Calder
2. Swap rear wheels with spares in boot. (rear tyres left in pits)
3. remove LPG mixer, maybe check carby jets, spark plugs
4. Dump exhaust, not remove.
5. Leave tools, jack, two wheels, etc in pit's and head to scruitineering.
6. Race until track closes.
7. Back to pits to refit exhaust, LPG, wheels, etc
8. Drive home (through Melb CBD as eastlink didn't exist)

Good times.

If you did that now, youd have to include:

9. Get pulled over by TMU
10. Watch car get put on tilt tray
11. Get taxi home

You forgot the drive through the city, sit in Femington rd for 30 mins in traffic in the stinking heat !
When I first started racing I would drop one pipe, just so I could hear the engine running on the start line !

They were the days !

The car certainly brings back memories. There was a process to follow on Friday nights.

1. Get up at 4am clean and prep car for calder
2. Load car onto trailer and head for work at 7am
3. work like a dog till 3pm and head for calder
4. arrive at 5-6pm thanks to traffic
5. take car off trailer and make final prep for racing
6. wait in line for hours......to get a few runs in
7. around 11pm to 1 am load up all the spares tools etc and head for home....maybe
8. do obligatory lap on chapel with car on trailer.......talk shit and head for home around 4am
9. get home unload and wake neighbors...lol
10. finish up shower then head back to work from 7am till 5pm

rinse repeat and do it all again next time

you can also add the street sessions into that...sun/tues and thurs nites on the highway for show and the industrials for go

work 3 jobs 7 days a week just to go racing...

guess thats why they were the good ol days...more time to spend on cars and a disposable income
