Its an auto (weren't many good manuals around when i was looking) but has the full ticky kit and only 122k

Still on my L plates right now until Janurary
Only plans for now are new head unit as the six stacker doesn't work and repaint some parts that need it. Later down the track 19's and plenty more

Found a bloke who is willing to swap EL GT copies + $$$ for my FTR's
Not quite sure yet, opinions?

Well for your car I would honestly say no,
But what you could do it just swap them and then generously swing the Gt copies my way (as long as they are the champagne colour) :D

But I must say I think you should keep the FTR's for now. They are a smaller wheel, but I think suit the shape a bit better.
(only reason I want the champagne ones is that it would go with the gold badges, exhaust tip etc on my car.)

Said it before, but that is a really nice car mate,
if for some strange reason I found my self in Vic, I would take some piccies with ya

P.S. I would say do yourself a favour and get yourself a bonnet protector.
Then colour code it by spraying it on the inside so it will not chip.)

I'd slam it on ultras, delete spoiler and keep it in my shed for a weekender, excellent paint that looks mad as bastard!
EL GT copies with good rubber are worth twice as much as FTRs with good rubber why would he do that?

Paints good in some parts but very average in others. The whole kit needs a repaint. found scuffs and marks the other day in places i hadn't noticed which pissed me off
Coyote mk3 wrote:But I must say I think you should keep the FTR's for now. They are a smaller wheel, but I think suit the shape a bit better.

I decided against it. The tires were fried and i dont have enough cash right now to fork out for tires. Instead im saving up for a EL momo steering wheel.Found one for $500 trying to talk him down lol. Ah the joys of being 17. I will look into the bonnet protector i know we used to have one on the old mans
nr2877 wrote:Nice car mate look after it and keep it mint.

will do cheers :)

Had problems today with front passenger power window. The same one that wasnt working before i purchased the car. Still had power to go down but not up. Took apart the door trim and had a squiz but nothing there so i though it could be the contacts on the switches. Tried using the power of the driver window to make passenger go up. Checked everything but still not going up. Left it for a while, came back and it worked first time :)

Well it's been ages since i last posted in here so thought i'd update
Plans were to get it lowered, replace tint, stereo and eventually get the front and rear bars resprayed

Got the license and was happy just cruising around. Spent a few weeks detailing it up to scratch, but came out pretty good

Image

Had the car lowered on superlows all round and monroe shocks (Should have bought koni's but didnt have much cash at the time) and was happy with it once the springs set in.

Looked into a set of genuine el gt's but the bloke wanted too much. A set of mint condition argents came up pretty cheap so thought why not. Not convinced they'll stay though yet. Definately getting sick of rubbing even with rolled guards so the ftr's will probably go back on.

and have now since lost the license for a year :bye:
so its just sitting under a cover barely getting driven. Anyone want the 19's ;)

FTRs still look better. I'd spend the money on keeping it perfect (respray where needed, Bowden's bucket).

Yeah have a few things to fix on it (headlining, rear rotors, tint) I don't know yet could even put it up for sale :(

Charged with dangerous driving and evading police. Wasn't nearly as bad as it sounds, coppers always over exaggerate. Had to go to court and copped a hefty fine. Lawyers aren't farkin cheap either :banghead:

What size tyres do you have for it to rub?
I got 245 wide 19 and mines heaps lower. Doesnt scrub at all. Only when articulated.
But very nice car. I had a burgandy one. Very very nice.
Sucks about your license.

Thanks mate couldn't tell you right now as the sidewalls have been shaved for whitewalls. Will have a look on the insides when i take them off tomorrow. Its not scrubbing on the guard anymore, more so the inside on lock or when turning. Yeah it sucks but there isn't much i can do about it really :(

Well i have just over 3 months to go before the license comes back. Have saved up a fairly large amount of coin and am at a crossroads as for what to do.
Option 1 is continue spending money on this (Paint, Rims, Momo Wheel, Upgrade brakes and a few other bits and pieces) and most likely turbo down the track. It's also ticking quite loudly as of late and is leaking water from the exhaust (head gasket has already been done though?) so will need a good service. Still only has 140k on it and runs perfectly

Or sell this off and buy a new limited ed. manual XR6 ute and do a few mods to that (wheels, exhaust, lowered, hardlid) Unfortunately I have no space for 2 cars so its one or the other. Both options have their good and bad points and i cant make up my farken mind. Opinions?

Agreed. Stick with your nice eseries. Any car you buy will have issues, and your ELs aren't that bad. Everyone misses their clean eseries once they sell them

And turboing is cheap enough to stay out of debt

Decided to keep the EL for a bit longer, would rather not get a huge loan for an FG so will just keep saving till I can almost pay cash.

Finally picked up a set of EL GT's for it on the weekend, tyres are pretty much rooted though but the rims are mint. Also got it serviced, re-gassed the air con and bought a new header bottle. There's still a few more things I want to do, but quite happy with where it's at now

Just under 2 months until I get the license back now.

Good choice staying with it. You'll appreciate it one day, did you sell the 19's off?
If you save and buy an FG xr6 you'll get bored after 6 months with it being another FG xr6 N/A then be stuck at another crossroad where you want an XR6T but cant afford it.

The 19's were sold off after a week and a half, couldn't stand them really. The argents didn't really suit and the car felt gutless with them.

Yeah it would probably end up with me spending more coin than if i kept the EL, don't get me wrong though I love the car have always wanted one!
I had a chat with my old lady though (works in a bank) and she put it in perspective for me which helped a fair bit

Putting a turbo on it is probably a while off though, I have to do another year on red p's, as my court date was brought forward by the lawyer a few days before I was to go onto greens. F*****g spewing back to square one :banghead:
