Funny thing is the car was in Shepparton as a cop car and it has a lockable petrol cap. There are lots of indigenous australians in shepparton. I don't believe it's a coincidence.

In EA it was just different tyres, S Pack springs and Fairmont loom (for upgraded lighting etc.).

The delete radio system was because Police aren't allowed to listen to commercial radio or weren't allowed or something. The first thing my old man did when he bought the car was fit a basic tape deck lol.

There was just a blanking plate on the stereo panel, it pops out and you can fit a head unit. I've only ever seen one other EA without a radio.

Can you do one of those checks on my car if I give you the VIN etc?

Years ago I was going to trade it in at Etheridge in Ringwood, and they reckoned it used to be a cop car. I seriously doubt it though- the owners manual said the first owner was IXL or something.

my car had one of those too when i bought the car, apparently the guy i bought it off had it parked outside one night with a full tank to come back in the morning and see its all been drained so he bought a lockable fuel cap.

Plans? None :( I might get off my ass and do it all up sick again and put it on gas, get it re-reg'd and start driving it daily. That'd be nice.

In all seriousness though, even if it just cops a stock LPG six in it, it'd be a great car on the road. If it turns heads while parked (in a non-rice way), that's a good thing to have in a car.

Well I keep getting ideas to spend large sums of money on a newer car because the ED is a bit too low class for this bro. I was pretty interested in a XR6T that was FS on AFF a few weeks ago but that fell through when he traded it before I even got a chance to look at it. Nothing as good value as that is for sale atm for similar money so I've given up.

I've also looked at BA Ghias, Fairlanes, WK Stato's etc. etc. but nothing REALLL decent has come up. Too many light coloured BA Ghia's and turbos around and WK's are still too dear.

Anyways I thought rather than get one of those I could put the ED's running gear back in the EA after RWing it and drive it to work (Vicroads) everyday and shouldn't cop any Police troubles as the trek is in peak traffic hours. I could get some decent wheels for it too and yer it'd be alright. But really dunno what I want!

Gill's currently caning around his uncle's BA2 E-Gas XT and even those pov-pack spec BA's are damn good! Makes it really tempting to go buyone... but then it's all money :(

i wouldn't waste money on something you don't want.

get the EA all legit again and slap the turbo stuff back on.
drive it lots and enjoy it.

cost you SFA and you're back in a 1/2 decent car.
money not spent on something you don't want is money saved for something much better.

maby just get it back running on gas with a nice NA motor.
and just enjoy it.
still have the ed for fun times.
that way you can enjoy a nice looking car. with a little bit of go. and even if you get cop attention all they should be able to get you for is ride height.

So a quick interior swap in the ED (from the EA) won't act as a stopgap solution? (making the ED seem less pov)

I'm assuming you've still got the GLi interior, I only got thru the 1st & last page of the ED thread...

Yer I checked out a BA Ghia today gunna give an offer and see how that goes.

Been in a couple LS1's and I reckon a slow old Windsor feels smoother than some of them, too noisy and coarse.

XR6T's really aren't a good idea for me with fuel prices, I want something I can put on gas and I'm a sucker for luxury shiz.

Maybe another thing to consider is your own benchmark. If you get a BA it'll be all new and shit for a while, but then you'll get used to it and it'll become normal, so then you'll soon be comparing newer cars to yours again and eventually you'll be back in a similar spot where you are now, but with less money and a car that's seen everywhere. Part of the reason I didn't buy my mum's BA turbo.

He should put an engine in the EA, get a RWC then sell it to some E series enthusiastic.

Then he should buy a new audi of some description. They are sick.

Cant really get away with buying a 'good' Audi for less than $40,000 though :(
And nobody wants to see some stock standard family saloon. Even if it has the factory option roof racks n all.
A tastefully built EA turbo is waaay more respectable than some stocker of a BA.. And cheaper

depends on who you want to be respected by.

i'm sure there would be a lot of people who would respect a stock BA over a modified green EA.

People in the real world would rather get into a new swift for $15k than have to ride in an EA with $15k spent on it.

Parts are in excess, knowledge is easily gained, they are relaible and you don't have to rely on dealerships to service your car. I'd rather a $500 EA with $14,500 spent on it over a 15K Swift anyday. You'd probably get more features with the higher spec EA models than the lower spec Swiftys too. Resale doesn't mean shit when you are buying the car to last and enjoy.

My $0.02 is that you own it, you aren't going to make heaps of cash by selling it. Wait until a cheap driveline falls into your lap then do burnouts until it breaks then repeat.

Unless you need your garage back, then get it crushed into a neat green cube.
