a question so does the head have a raised T on the front just behind the fan belt.

2 it has the gas head hose's coming out the back of the head.

gas and ute shared bottom end's if i remember correctly.

Theres no T on the head, its not tickford.
All bottom ends are the same regardless of tickford or not.

i honestly thought the ute and gas motor had different rods,

although that info came from a ford wreaker in geelong so suppose that says it all.

**** man stop talking shit and passing it off as gospel.

Those hoses go to the heater pipes underneath the manifold, and if you don't remember correctly don't post it. Ute and LPG motors have different bottom ends? WTF were you thinking even saying that?

Fail :)

Tickford motors had different pistons to raise the compression ratio slightly, rods cranks etc were the same though.

Distinctly remember reading it in wheels years and years ago, was going through back issues at tafe and found one from about october 1992 or therabouts when the EB XR6 was brand new.

Agreed. Ticky heads were what created the slightly higher comp, 9.3 to 9.35 or close to as well as ticky heads having larger exhaust valves. Can someone confirm or deny that the ticky heads had better valve springs?

They were painted red. Supposed to be stiffer but according to Gilberts head reconditioning they were no different.
