So I thought as I was leaving work today that I should take some pics of the goodies.
Full duel exhaust

Auto Tek steering wheel

Engine bay shot. I think its a edelbrock manifold?

This is a very average shot of the passenger side looking down towards headers. Not sure if its standard as I don't know much about V8's

90% Sure thats an Edelbrock manifold. Also 90% Sure they aren't original EF exhaust manifolds, the originals are crushed at the flanges.
Looks like a nice score, the Autotek wheel is a little out of place though!

looks like a nice wagon

duel exhaust is different you dont see that very much on these.. you dont see many v8 wagons either!
how does it go? you would know if the extractors were stock.. they are normally crushed in heaps where they are bolted to the heads.

Well, honestly it is as slow as a dead slug. I have never given my cars names but "Ugly Betty" seems fitting. Today Ugly Betty is having a birthday, replacing front rotors and associated consumables, auto service, full engine service, fuel filter, new bonnet struts, diff oil, Ill put on some EL GT's I have under the house, a good tub to make it less dirt road country style.
Ill take some pics today of a few things like the exhaust from under the car.

Eventful day, I didn't get all the above done but did manage to change the rotors over, oil and filter change, have a geeze about the engine bay and discovered that a gasket from the mixer was missing. I also started the trans service but haven't finished. Took a few pics

When I dove it I just about shat bricks when I applied the brakes. It turns out they were warped pretty bad to the point where one side of the rotor was smooth and the other still had some slots on it

I figured that there are some good bits on here and evidence of someone spending some cash in the past, it made we wonder if there was a J3 chip in there. I also noticed a lump under the carpet and thought WTF?
yeah WTF!

That manifold is a Power Plus "Typhoon" manifold. Cheap exact copy of the Edelbrock Performer 5.0. Still WAY better than the HO manifold they come with, and even better than the Explorer.
Extractors definately arent stock, look like a HM/Hi-tech type. Would respond well to something a little betetr like Pacemaker PH4000 Tri-Y's. Exhaust system actually looks pretty good. 2.25" piping yeah?

sounds like it just needs some TLC.

Yeah, some TLC is one way of looking at it.
when I was pouring the oil in I could hear a air leak comming form the back of the intake manifold. So I think Ill have to take it off have a looksee and then put some new seals in.
Im wondering if the piggy back is tuned for different heads/maf/ cam etc etc. I might have to get someone to pull it to bits to identify whats what and then go from there.
Either way, once its finished and tuned it should be a fun wagon to cruise about in with the kids, wife and dog.

Three thumbs up from me!!!
Well, 2 1/2, the steering wheel doesn't do it for me. Looking forward to more pics. Got any interior shots?

Jeff, it has 2.25" pipes. I will get some more interior shots but it seems odd that the seats are absolutely filthy with just sweaty grime yet the carpet look to be spotless.
The steering wheel is nice, I think you guys don't like the blue insert? I agree its a bit out of place but that's where my hands sit so I don't see much of it. Other than the insert Its very similar to a FPV "fat" sports wheel
Last night I managed to get the pan back onto the auto and put a bit over 3.5L of fluid into it. When I get home from work tonight Ill get it off the ramps and check the levels again before going for a drive. Fingers crossed

Sorry about the poor pic but it gives an idea on how much a different set of wheels can do for a average looking car.

Nice pickup with the GFBs

I'm loving it. Yesterday I fixed the speedo and replaced the inhibitor switch so now the cruise works perfectly and the auto shifts as it should. I replaced a few flange gaskets but have to replace a few more.
The brakes need a fluid flush badly

I have a few days off now (just worked 11 12hr shifts in a row) so I can get stuck into a few jobs.

I took the wagon into a A/C joint today to get diagnosed as to why its not cold. I called him at about lunch time and he said it wasn't good news. The rubber a/c pipe as seen in this pic has many holes in it and just leaks out

he also said they don't make them anymore so he would have to custom make fittings to replace it. He also said that the condenser is rooted and wouldn't be doing much good for the radiator and could guarantee that he would break the fitting when replacing the receiver dryer anyway.

SO, he said to fix it with new condenser would be about $1200 but could be a bit cheaper pending on a few things.
He did mention I have a vac problem as the climate control is stuck on the head function and wont change.
To make myself feel better I had a counter lunch for $6.50 at the pub and perved on some hot chicks in business attire.

I just had that hose replaced in my NF V8. Got one from Ford new, tell your AC bloke to try harder, should be able to track one down.

RE your vac problem - have you tried resetting / diag test on it? Depressing Auto, Mode and Off at the same time for 1 or 2 seconds.

Yep, have done that and returns fine. The A/C bloke said its probably a simple vac leak or joiner that has come apart. He said it was stuck on the head function rather than breaking and returning to the default windscreen position. He was pretty sure about the vac leak and said it was a matter of finding it.
Ill just take it one step at a time.

I hate you and you know why. I was chasing you for months! I want more pics of your wagon.
I have decided to do most of the a/c stuff myself. I have taken the front off the car and removed the condenser to make way for a new one. I'm just about to remove the a/c lines with the offending porous flex hoses. My plan is to take the lines into a hose Dr like Pirtek and have them sort it out then i can put them back into the car. Once its back together ill go back to the a/c guy to gas it and sort out the vac leak. Then COOOOOOOL!

Received my new a/c condenser from Tuff Car Parts. I'm happy until I fit it in the forget how the rest of the front end goes back together.
Ill keep this updated with how the new high pressure a/c lines go. booked in for wed.

Wagon got dropped off at the a/c joint yesterday. He had a few issues trying to get the bolt out of the top of the compressor and warned me that depending how the extraction goes I might need to source a different compressor. Long story short he managed to get it out

Today I have a TX valve and a receiver dryer turning up for him to fit and then its gas time. Hopefully he doesn't ram my ass when its time for the bill.
Its booked into DTS for a remap of the unichip. hopefully they can make the cold start and idle neater and just make the bloody thing more responsive and efficient. I think between 120-130rwkw but should show some good low down torque with the "suspected" towing cam.

I got some new mirrors for it and fitted them on Sunday lunch before the supercar coverage started.

The got all ambitious and know there was a vac leak at the back of the manifold area. I thought i would just nip up all the bolts to make sure there is a good seal when I noticed the 2 rear bolts were doing fark all and the cover that bolts onto drivers side was loose as well. I disconnected the battery and proceeded to the upper manifold off and inspect the grottyness that I found. Any how I cleaned it all up and sealed it up with some gasket in a tube and whacked it all back together. I also found a vac line just having a holiday behind the manifold (ill post pics later) not sure what its for but with the shape of the pipe I worked out where it was ment to be.
Connected the battery and it fired into life with a sigh of relief. It idle is like a cat, smooth and harmonious. I thought its too good to be true and took it for a spin. WHOA! it gets up and goes better than I would have ever expected. The brakes work too! no more standing of the stop pedal and praying with hopes and dreams. Hopefully when it hits the dyno the afr's are sweet and I save myself $350-400.
Ill stop talking now.

Nice work.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the invoice for the AC work I had done.
I'd be expecting more than 120/130. I made 128 with really lean AFRs (weak fuel pump and air leak) and the original MAF. Just stock AU motor with full exhaust.
I'm sure you will do better than that!
