Hey all I finally got my 94 ED Fairmont delivered to Melbourne from Gold coast on Monday. Its a 6 cyl supercharghed with extractors exhaust system pretty loud sound system alloys (only 17's) & I'm told it has 220kw at the wheels. I haven't had it on a dyno but once I get a rwc fix what ever needs to be fixed then registered it will be going straight to a dyno so I can see what its got. Enjoy the photos will post some more soon of the engine, interior & looking forward to the next boosted falcon cruise.
Also congrats to Beth & Pete for the awesome job done organizing the charity cruise on sunday its was an excellent day looking forward to the next one :drinks2:

Thanks for all the replys guys :good:

sk8n6: That would be great to have some help that is close by just need to take it somewhere for a rwc first to see what has to be done hopefully not a lot

wicksy: Reef green would have to be one of the best colors on these models. I used to have one this color but just a falcon had it for 6 years started to do it up as a project but didn't have the time, money or space so i had to sell it. I did manage to give it a bare metal respray in the same green but with a wild violet pearl. I spent about 90+ hours on the body work & the end result was unbelievable I really miss my baby so when i found this one I had to have it. So I bet any one who reads this knows what is in store for this one. hope to have it on the road real quick & start cruising with all you guys.
Here are some of the engine pics. These were taken by the dealer a few weeks ago & dont worry the engine bay will look alot tidier then this soon enjoy & that rocker cover wont be that color for much longer

Car is all registered time to go cruisn with you guys

Just wondering if anyone can answer my question? I finally took the car out on the freeway got it too 100kph drives beautiful but at 100 the revs sit on 2400rpm can I change the diff gears to fix this. If I do change the gearing what would be the best ratio to put in plus how hard is it to change diff centers over? Thanks guys look forward to cruisn with you guys.

Sounds like it may have 4.11's.. I've heard thats what they sit on @ 100, Im about to find out myself. If you're not competent, you'd be best getting a workshop to change the centre over.

Ive heard that the best gears for boost are the XR gears (3.45). Also I would have thought 4.11's would sit higher than 2400 at 100 kmh?

Ive never been a math whiz so correct me if my formula is wrong:

Currently @ 100 I sit on ~2100 with stock manual 3.23 gears

SO if I had 3.7 gears installed:

2100 / 3.23 = ~650

650*3.7 = 2405

or if 4.11's were put in

650*4.11 = 2672

Is that right? If so sounds like you might have 3.7s?

Nah, autos sit at about 1900 odd at 100ks with 3.23s, so its got 4.11s in it ( 1900/3.23 = 588 x 4.11 = 2417).
I rekon 3.7s would be the go, will drop 100ks down to a bit under 2200rpm which is what my EF with a manual and 3.45s does.

How often do you plan on doing ~100k's in it though?

i wouldn't change the gear's so quick. it would get it up into the boost quicker. you've gotta get them thing's revving to get them to go.

oh is it. so when your doing 1500rpm the impeller (which is hooked to the motor) is making the same boost as when the motor is doing 5000rpm, no. you have to rev them pretty hard to get them boosting. which isn't all bad. they are usually pretty normal down low then just get progressively quicker.

being auto i think 4.11's would be good.

Sorry I didn't think you realised it was Supercharged.
While talking what's it take to get a Supercharged 6 engineered (if it needs to)?
If so how did you pass the emissions test or did you have to remove the setup for the road worthy??

The car came from QLD all the work was done up there & engineered up there to didn't have any problems with it being supercharged except for one of the guys there saying "I didn't think these came from the factory with turbos on them" :rotfl: so i guess i was lucky there & vic roads checked the vin to make sure it matched & that was it.

I plan to be doing 100 twice a day 5 days a week to & from work not to fussed about going real quick (unless running late) thats why I want to change the gearing.

not sure what ecu its running but I have to admit the computer tells me @ 100kph @2400rpm it's doing 12l/100k so i'll have to see how it goes over the next couple of weeks with fuel economy.

The supercharged EL Fairmont had factory 3:4:5 with a hi stalled auto. On the highway it was great (I think it sat on 2000 @100) and for overtaking it was epic.

My Manual EL XR6 is such a great all round package I couldn't imagine dicking about with the ratios as I would be scared to loose torque. When i get the blower on the XR 2nd and 3rd are going to be very giggly.
