My DC LTD V8...

Postby jazza312 » May 1st, 2011, 6:17 pm : LUXO_8 Likes this post

hey guys, this week im picking up (if all goes to plan) a mint ltd...

some details: 93 DC2 LTD, 5 litre windsor, wood grain every where, mint leather interior with sunroof, woodgrain everywhere, poly green in colour.
car has 142,000 on the clock.
only mods are lpg system (installed june '10), 2.5 inch exhaust and pedders suspension.

here are a couple of pics from the sale ad.

now i have a bit of a dilema... for starters i have 4 cars once this is picked up, will be selling at least 2.

i want to get some opinions on what i should do...
as some may know, i own an nc ghia (has ssl's, 19" gtp's, sound system etc.) also a bf xr8 that im paying off (almost stock) and an xd wagon i was planning on doing up (almost rust free)
im thinking sell the wagon and the xr8 to get me out of debt and not paying for premium and high insurance prices (being 21) and keeping the ltd and nc. (nc daily)

here is my major dilema. what should i do with the two? do i put the SSL's and gt-p's etc onto the dc, it will look mad but just seems too good to mod. was also thinking put gt40p heads, explorer manifold and throttle body etc along with a 5 speed manual and aim at about 180ish rwkw, was also considering doing all that but not changing the look (semi sleeper)

got a hundred other ideas going on too... let us know what you think of the car, and what i should do with my other ones.

here are pics of other said cars.

would you be able to sell the XR8 for enough to pay out the finance? if so, thats what id do, sell the bf, sell the wagon, decide which you would rather have out of the other two and sell the other one too.

ive always liked your nc, looks mint for what it is. combine the two and make one awesome lwb...

yeah, could sell the bf and come out about 6k up as i didnt borrow the whole lot. basically the ltd is what i was gunna do to the nc eg; sunroof leather etc but in way better nic so i was gunna tranfer the wheels etc and return the nc to stock for a daily. i dont want to use the ltd as a daily because i work in a supermarket and the nc got dominated because of that.

Get rid of the daily idea. Have 1 car and park further away.

cheers, at this stage im leaning towards keepin the LWB's. that photo of the wagon is before i tidied it up, much better now tho. the nc is on gas too so thats good for a daily, never had a problem with it. think i'll take the goodies off the nc, return it to stock then work out what i'll do with the dc.

cheers for the input.

your all gay, sell all the E-series and smash the laon on the BF off. the BF will much nicer to drive in a couple years than an e-series, and much more reliable and be generally nicer all round

2 choices, sell the xr8 and be debt free or sell the DC and have debt. the other 2 should be sold regardless of either choice :P

that DC does look mint tho.

Only reason im considering the daily idea is because the dc just seems way too good to rack up the k's and let get knocked around. But from what you guys are saying I should...
I did only just get the bf and I like drivin it but I jusy prefer the old lwb's. I could even sell the others and keep xr and dc. Anywho, when I actually take ownership i'll make up my mind. Just wanted a few ideas...

As far as preserving the DC it will never be a 'classic' as such.
Guess it all depends on if you want to owe money or not?
If you were to use the DC as a 'weekender' and have another as a daily that nearly defeats the purpose too. 2x everything in insurance/rego/maintenance costs to have a $3k car in the shed collecting dust.

I have been there done that. Stuffing about flitting between old and new cars. Have an old one because i don't really need a new car. Upgrade because it would be nice to have a good car and why not if you can afford it. Then get the bug for an older car to fool about with again. It's a never ending cycle!

At the end of the day the BF can potentially lose the most $$ in depreciation. Thats what i hate about modern Falcons.
But if you have an older weekend car it can potentially burn that amount of $$ too. I know i spent a bit on my DC. Didn't get any more for it really @ sale time. Maybe $1000 more than a clean stocker?

Makes good sense there nothin suss... I will lose a heap on the xr but I knew that from the beggining, im not all that into it tho. I love how it goes and sits on the road but I dont need it. Should never of bought it but at the time I wanted it. Best to sell it now before it loses too much value.
I am leaning towards the idea of just keepin the dc now and sellin the rest.
Ur all pursuading me. Keepin the bf is pretty much out of the question, just want to get most my money back and do some serious saving.

Anyway, lookin forward to pickin it up, will get heaps of pics up when I get it to give an ecample of how clean it is...

Nooo! Keep that DC mint and keep another car as a daily, probably the NC2 as you know you like them :P

You had the right idea at the start.

If it were me it put the suspension and wheels of the NC and put them on the LTD, then sell the NC and wagon and put money into loan, have BF as daily and LTD for fun. Keep the wheels and suspension off the LTD so you can return to stock if you wanted to.

Tint and thermo fans first up.

Immaculate looking car. Does it have the stereo controller in the back?

Keep E-Series, sell newer cars. E-Series aren't depreciating much more, B-Series prices still have a looooooong way to fall. I'm not one for watching a car lose value quicker than I can pay the loan off :P

Lol I wont be selling the ones out of the ltd, but I do have a set for sale for 200 bucks... They will need to be re-trimmed but...
There are a few minor flaws in the car... Passanger seat has a tiny tare, the wood grain around the shifter has a tiny crack, there are some minor marks from where the mud flaps where, and of course a few stone chips...
But im not complaining!
Overall tho its great!

Doesnt have the radio control in the back... Wasnt sure if the dc2 had them? Thought ive only seen them in series one...
I want to go black tint, put my ssl's in the back and my 19's on and do the usual 5l mods plus commando's old supercharger...
But then i also dont want to touch it at all because of how nice it is as is...
Lol but also I want to do said engine mods and keep it sleeper style...

Haha either way I think i'll get rid of the wagon and either the lane or xr8. Sort of wanna ditch the xr before I lose too much...

No tint, just keep the venetians in it.

Id just lower it, no need for wheels, maybe some 235 or 245's on the rear wheels for added fatness then do the mods :)

can always change the wheels to suit your mood... id mod it hard, yeah its mint but at the end of the day lwb fords dont go up in value bugger all compared to the swb ones. your wont hurt its future value with decent mods. go hard and have the car you want.

lol money isnt what concerns me. i couldnt care if one day i sell it for 50 bucks and a can of coke coz thats all its worth...

its just that i love seein mint original cars, but i also love seeing tastefully modded ones!

wheels are a piece of piss to change but springs (well the front ones) are a bit trickier...

i think selling some cars to buy the blower is the first thing i'll do, and i'll put the springs and wheels aside for another day...

Am I the only one who isnt a fan of df wheels? Lol
If I change the wheels at all i'd put on my 19s or nl concorde wheels (the wire kind)

How would ssl's look in the back of this u reckon? Would it drop it too much compared to the front?
I have the lane ssl's just sittin in the garage atm...
