someLS1 wrote:Plans are to get rid of the hardlid (i know they look good but they make a practical car not practical!! my previous ute i woulda been screwed with a hardlid), get a bigger cooler, i really hate ba series 1 rims so i wanna do something about that... maybe cheap deep dish 18s/19s like starcorp etc see what comes up no rush has brand new tyres, and the put my slimline sub etc in, prob a tiny drop in suspension on the back and that will be it mate. Spend as little as possible its already good just drive it and enjoy it. I cant stand blowing money on mods on 2 cars so ill be on ebay as i always am if i see some bargains ill grab em always wanted an fpv wheel too and just the fpv dash gauges.

Also ill prob kit it out for camping a bit more run some power to the tray for a fridge, just little things like that.

Cheers Justin and Damo.

Nice plans, it'll end up a great allround ute. There's lots of common sense there only modding one car too. Do you use the ute for work at all? You AU+ blokes are lucky, good cheap wheels pop up often!

Well i worked on site all of last year and it was loaded up to the brim multiple times a week. Now im back in the office so not sure how much hard work itll do. But always looking for the next project with family so wont be long till it gets worked hard again. Part of the reason i dont want it dumped om 20s and all that rubbish... aside from driving like ass with all that stuff.

Yea mate ive seen a few interesting looking sets very cheap.. one set of deep dish rims had massive tyres on the back too but they are all the way up in canberra cbf sorting out shipping etc no rush.

Well got the new ute home finally yesterday! Love it compared to the old one goes fairly well too compared to the old one. Found out it pulled 236rwkw not bad really more then enough for me.

As any car has a few little issues need to do the front brakes they are shuddery heard its a common problem with these and i suspect a noise wheel bearing cant think what else it could be. Sort those 2 out and illl be happy for a while.

Yea it does have a slope to the garage.. but then its fairly flat after the garage door and that fits another 3 cars. Steve we also concreted half the front yard since you last visited haha but the boat takes up pretty much all of it.

Yea well theres the negative really... with my old ute i never gave a fark just loaded it up threw materials in. Loaded it up with rock ran into things on site all the time did a far bit of cosmetic damage on it really. Im back to riding the desk atm so bit easier to keep this clean. But yea come next stint on site/just doing work around the house im going to have to be alot more careful as i dont wanna mess this one up. Will still load it up, but doing shit like loading tray full of pebbles/rocks etc will be a thing of the past as that fucked my rear skirt, bumper tailgate etc when your cleaning it all out i dunno your tired lazy and end up chipping the **** out of it.

But in the end it is a ute so will be loaded up just smarter

I've seen it on a Gtr35 as well but only half the bonnet and you could see the ridge where it ended. Didn't know how a whole car would look but seems a cool idea

well when i said all over his car think its guards bonnet front mirrors might be it... dunno if anyone would do the whole car. not sure seems pointless to me its a car its meant to be used... takes looking after a car to a whole new extreme dont really see the point of that on any car really unless your taking your ferrari for a track day and dont want to get stone chips lol!

yea pat it was blizzard spec i went with the missus on thurs was no snow then fri was snow and wind that bad that the lifts all got shut down at like 2pm. Yea my prado had more snow that year but this was like it rained car got wet then snap froze so like my locks were like ice blocks lol

Well ive seen bf front discs on another ute and they looked heaps bigger i heard to fix the constant easy to shudder ba brakes can be fixed to some extent by using bf front discs but i cant find any information on it.

i wouldnt bother with bf discs man, they still shudder specially with heavy braking. my misses territory does it and its a 06 model.
id recommend dba or rda or something like that, that can handle some heavy braking.
as at work we machine the discs to a sepc but they do reoccur reguarly.
but each to their own.
cheers

I believe to run the 326 or 328mm or whatever they are fronts that calipers need changing too.
And of course 17 inch plus rims are required.

Yeah same calipers basically but the cast mounting brackets are different, they are a heavy car so the brakes are always going to get a workout, don't skimp on cheap rotors and ensure the caliper slides are adequately greased. The territory/turbo/xr8 brakes are a bit better but shudder also depends on how you drive

Cheers guys... well yea sounds like maybe ill get the calipers from a wrecker and maybe get brand new bf discs dba ones or something.

Cars already got the 17s so no worries on that.

Holy crap, that’s a lot of snow! That fist pic is awesome though, looks like a model train set of something, makes your car look die-cast!
