Thanks man, the gauges are staying as they actually do work... very handy and I didn't want them sitting on the dash lol. Fuel pressure, water temp and vacume gauges which the vacume will be boost eventually :p each to their own I like them !

TS kits look horrible on anything other then a genuine TS so no friggen way was going down in that direction lol !

I honestly don't understand the hate for the AU. I mean yes the series 1 forte looks like shit on a stick but with a few mods here and there they can look great. Tickford really hit spot with their kits which made the AUs look less bubble shaped lol !

Nothing wrong with AU's, they still look quite sharp, and low slung...BA's are are bit bland in comparison...

They really are ugly in their basic form, since there's many around it probably gives the impression that all AU's are ugly no matter what. They are really reliable; my mates with AU's have had very few problems with theirs, compared to the b and e series that they (also) have. You've got one sweet ride there

I personally love the AU in its done up form and I agree to all of the above ! This car has been in my family since 2003 and it literally has had only the regular service done(brakes, oil, trans etc). Nothing has given me any trouble :D 267xxxkm and still going strong. So tempted to turbo it but I'm hesitant to break the rules until I'm off my ps. We will see in time :P

Re: AU Fairmont Ghia, fully modded 'Fearmont'

Postby xr6tjet » October 21st, 2012, 4:47 pm

Hey fellas,

Its been about 6 months since my last update and I've been getting busy with the car. I decided to go all out and make it look even better then what it did. I'm finally content with it.

Latest Mods:
- 20" FPV Silver Argents (With whitewalls)
- NOS Pair of Leather Front seat bases (Such a rare find)
- TS50 Coloured Burgundy Headlights
- New Rear 'Slammed' Springs (60mm drop from SSL)
- De stickered rear window
- Chrome exterior handles removed
- 75th Anniversary Ghia Momo Woodgrain Steering Wheel

Now heres the photoshoot I just did. I'm very happy with the outcome. Next thing is to turbo the motor after my P plates expire.

Enjoy!

Looks really good mate I've always been a fan of nice au's.

The front looks like it could come down maybe 15-20mm though but that's about it.

I know mate, If I have time I might get the SSLs compressed in the front probably by 30mm before c4c. I have exams @ uni at the moment so it was even hard to get what I did done !

I've been thinking about a lip spoiler for a long time, I couldn't put holes in my boot though in case I want to change. I'm content with the low and despoilered look but when I get sick of it down the track ill probably fit an AU classic bobtail. We'll see :) Thanks man I appreciate the comments!

i'd have to disagree pete I just don't like the series 2/3 one. and besides I have a boot with a fairmont + ghia sticker on it with holes behind the badges. I reckon it would look silly I wanna keep it clean and series 1 like as much as possible!

Maybe on the spoiler if I get sick of it ill get another boot with a bobtail. The old wheels are in my possession however I'm contemplating on selling them for about 900-1000 with the brand new tyres with whitewalls. Depending if anybody is interested let me know :)

How come you got rid of the chrome door handles..?

I'm open to charity though :P the chrome handles were annoying. they were vinyl wrapped and I just didn't like how tacky it looked. keeping it flush looks much better :)

Desire isn't driven by the heart, the mind or the wallet. Desire comes from another place. It's created by the smell of burnt fuel under full throttle and the look a car gives you when you're washing it alone at night...
