Qwik6's EB Fairmont 4.0 - 206rwkw updated yetagain

Hey guys, new on here so thought i'd put up a bit've info and pics of my ride.

Its an 93 EBII Fairmont in Reef Green.
Had it about 4-5 years, bought it as a near mint grampas car with lots of receipts.

Image

Soon after buying it, I fitted a CD player, fitted some King Low springs, the usual 2.5in exhaust, Pacemaker Comp headers and a set of DL LTD wheels.
A small cam was fitted, along with a CAPA chip.
The car made around 130rwkw.

Image
Image
Image

Around a year later, after the head gasket went it was time for a new engine.
With XR6 Turbo conversions were still uncharted waters & out've my price range (10k+), I had a big cam NA motor built for the EB.
Few bits done to the new EL motor were a custom Crow cam, head and an EMS Stinger.
The auto recieved a 2300rpm stall & shift kit. Later came a 3.7 LSD.
A full 3inch exhaust with Lukey Race Muffler and Hot Dog Muffler is fitted.
New Showheels Ramblers were a Xmas present to myself. Unfortunatly, they were short lived after hitting a bump in the road.

Image
Image
Image
Image

Made a trip to Heathcote to run it in Dec 09.
Only got a best of 14.9@95mph. Wanted a low 14.
The auto & heat on the day together wasnt a good mix.

Image
Image

Not alot has changed on the car since then except the installation of a T5 earlier this year.
Also fitted was an Xtreme Clutch & B&M Pro Ripper Shifter.

Then attempting to drive to Heathcote a few months ago..........................
Image
Image

Another set of wheels were fitted after the broken ones.
Also filled in the exhaust cutout for a cleaner look and painted the rocker cover.

Image
Image
Image

Another little thing I done was fill in the exhaust cutout. Just for something different.
Image

And with the manual, came a little more power to the wheels.
Image

Yesterday I had this done to the headers and a tune up.

Cheers Guys.

Cheers. It is a custom Crow job my tuner had made up.
He gave me the spec sheet that turned out to be the wrong sheet, so unknown specs.
But it shares bits from thier 2232549 & 2232546 cams

Sure am. Ran into some legal trouble the last few months to do with the car recently, so $$$ is a bit down for a trip over to Heathcote.
But SA has some 1/8th mile drags here soon, so im racing there.

Anyone know what a decent time would be for my car down the 1/8th?

Thanks for the comments guys!

Amyone know what 1/8mile times could I pull in this? Never seen or done 1/8 before.
As long as a change gears well, what should I aim for?
Cheers.

Nice car! Sucks about that second set of wheels, I reckon they looked great. The current ones are pretty good too though.

Good power, no idea what you'd pull on the 1/8th but if you have a really good run on the quarter you should get into the 13s...

Yeah I iked those wheels, better than the current ones too.

I think a 13 should be possible. Have to wait til the times right for a Heathcote trip again.
And depending on my gear changes.

Ran my car at Tailem Bend 1/8 mile drags at the weekend.
Best was 9.57@77.45.
Gonna splash out for some drag radials for next time. Traction was a little issue.
Also think I was too soft on take off. Not giving it the revs I should've.

Today I bought a different gear knob.
The one I had was good, but suited a taller shifter. I realised I needed a rounder one to help shift quicker.

Heres a before & after.

Image
Image

Havent driven it yet, but feels better just changing gears in the garage.

I've noticed there isnt much selection in gear knobs around, either in shops or Ebay.

How did you go in the 1/8 mile drags ?
Brockb8 should be able to give you his 1/8 mile times. You should be close to that with that power.

My 1/8mile was fairly average. 9.5 @ 75mph i think. 60ft was 2.5 i think. So yeah pretty poor.
I put it down to traction. Was only on street tyres. Ill hopefully have M/T's for the next 1/8mile next month.
On take off i was riding the clutch abit as to limit wheel spin. So hopefully the sticky tyres will let me take off harder.

was anything else done between dyno tunes from the auto to manual? didn't think it would be 18kw loss through the auto, kinda was hoping less of a loss. just curious as i'm auto and building a bit of n/a.

really nice car man, 190rwkw would be fun, and the mt's look mint on the turbo blades.

Cheers for the nice words.

When I went from auto it was around 160rwkw, then with the manual went to about 170rwkw, then my tuner done his thing and went to 180rwkw.
I had the extractors modified, cat removed and a resonator fitted then tune again that put it at 191rwkw.
