EB_Ghia's 1993 DC LTD, going nowhere far

thought i'd post some piccys of the new car..
was offered this a week after i wrote the eb off and thought sure it needs some work but why not?

its a 1993 dc ltd.
full leather v8 auto, all the usual ltd gear.
since ive had it. ive removed the ugly bonnet buldge. and done all the things needed to pass a rwc.

the plans for it short term, are to give it a closed door respray to make all the panels match up again.
and put it on lpg as this is my only car now as the xf isnt on the road anymore

i had to remove the ps front ltd seat for rwc as the base was stuffed. but i got it with 1 good recaro so i just fitted my other good one from the eb.

im in the process of raising it as ultralows and superlows suck. sure it looks good but isnt practical and i cbf'd damaging stuff getting into the driveway at home..
i already have fubard the front bar getting it off the car ramps last night before it was due to go back in for rwc..
and they noticed so it has to be fixed to get the rwc

but enough of me, heres some piccys
some of when i got it.. i was using the ute rims as they have rwc tyres

some since ive been doing some work to it.

scoop is gone.. i aint chucking the hideous thing back on either

Image

no interior piccys atm as i forgot the charged batteries for the camera

You're doing all the wrong things to it.

And ultalows ARE practical. You just need to change your driving style to suit! :P

that is your opinion... but it would be appreciated if you kept your thoughts to yourself hus.
as you have to remember you sold it how long ago? giving me crap in person about it for something you no longer own is a bit of a joke.
i hold legal title to it, and i dont give a **** what you think what im going to be doing to it either.

back on topic..
they arent when it scraped on everything and i just got failed on getting the rwc which i badly needed cos i partially ripped the bar off getting it off the ramps.
if it sat high like where the eb does.. it wouldnt of been a problem

keep in mind they passed it for ride height in the front.
so im on the lookout for a pair of v8 lows and the ultras and sl's will be up for sale soon that were in it

thanks.. i like the darker woodgrain in the eb but im gonna keep the ltd ones as i cbf'd swapping it over as the eb didnt have the console bits

ultras in the rear are a bad idea on lpg.. did that once and swore never again

the front ones will be staying till i raise it pete.. atm i need it registered asap, so springs will wait.
i actually only have 2 ltd rims anyways, the 3rd one has a chunk missing out of the alloy.
and i like the nc fairlane rims better than the dc ltd ones.

the 5 spokes off the eb dont look to far out of place anyways. and they had new tyres on them too

It now has rego..
got it through finally a couple of days before cruise for charity. so i decided to take it after a few mates were twisting my arm to take it.
and being for a good cause i thought why not in the end

ive done now maybe a thousand k's in it and its been real good.
theres just a few things i want to fix asap.

bleed the brakes and remove the awful protec brake pads that are in the front.
ive had brake fade issues with them already, yet ive used maxistop and superstop (cheap pads) before with no fade problems..

fit my new rotors and balljoints from the eb. mine knock, fucked if i know how it passed a rwc like that.
as all of the front end brake wise is new in the eb. so in a way im killing a few gremlins at the same time.

and start doing the other things i need\ want to do it.
run the rest of the cabling for the sub.
and make a start pulling out the car alarm from the eb so it can go in the dc so i can disable the stupid smartlock..

get a towbar and fit it as im moving mid next month. worst case i have my dads wagon to borrow as it has a towbar.

oh and get a start on getting a few mounts made up for the lpg gear, and sort someone out to do the main line etc as i dont mind doing the looms and mounting stuff. if it means i'll save a bit of money

oh and heres a few pics of how it is now..

they dont look too far out of place i reckon.

Image
i left the ltd seat in the rear. but im looking for a better one than mine though
worse case. there is nothing stopping me fitting the eb rear seat and the doughnut headrests

i am..
cbf'd refitting seats that make my head hit the roof. i love it too.

but on another note.
the dc hasnt skipped a beat apart from what i think is a dirty maf?
sometimes will sound like its got a bigger cam for a few seconds and under hard acelleration it blows a touch of petrol smoke for a few seconds

other than that it goes well. returns decent fuel economy considering the traffic i have to drive in.
10L to the 100 on the highway
and jumps to 13L to 15L 100 in city traffic pending if im taking it easy or not

making a start on this now..
sourced a towbar for fairly cheap and thought great im gonna have to drill holes now. lets hope i dont **** it up.
turns out all the holes were there for a dealer fitted hayman reece. so the unit i got (its just a 2100kg one) bolted in easily.
just gotta get a new towball as the one on the tongue was missing

other than that. ive just been driving it and sorting out when to get it put on lpg

time to update i suppose.
got the suspension mostly sorted now till i put it on lpg.
ended up raising the front back to lows as the driveway here isnt lowered car freindly, and i want to use it considering i have off street parking here

done a fair few k's in it now. no problems so far
borrowed a auxr8 maf and k&n, very nice difference. just have to find my own now!

but other than that.
its been on the cards to respray the dc to make it all match and me and a mate decided it would be good to have it done before afd, so we thought why not?
we are only doing a closed door but really it doesnt concern me that much as its staying factory.. to a point

its now mostly in primer, final paint will be done in a booth as its all booked in etc.
so whilst we have the stuff out were doing a few repairs. so its looking better than it used to now.
had to source another bonnet as it was confirmed the one i bought last year got bent and its full of rust. :-(
sourced a new one thats straight. just gotta prep it now and swap them over before paint now i suppose.

but enough chatty. some pics for you all
Image
fixing a little damage from a previous owner. have got it good but i know we wont get it perfect so this with a skim of filler is good enough for me!

Image

Image

Image
forgot the paper so we used the tape at that stage as im not concerned about destroying the clear as its already fucked!
but has since been removed and masked properly

sunroofs are so gay to mask up

now a little something.. choosing which one is fun, both are biscayne but the closer one is different

No it didnt make it to afd.
Pete, john (effalcon) was informed the night before that i had to pull out.
I simply ran out of net credit to be able to send a message to you.

As john knows..
I went to suspension repairs the night before, only to find diff oil everywhere as the diff hat had cracked at the watts link mount
I wasnt going to risk driving it with no diff oil.
It has since been fixed

nothing much to update.

how hard electrically is it to convert these to a manual?
only reason i ask is, the trans blew and i'd be damn'd if im paying the same money for a reco if i can have it as a manual instead.
as i miss having a manual car.

unfortunately v8 manual conversions are hard to come by and are quite expensive.

in saying that i may be wrecking an el v8 manual pm me if u'd like.
cheers josh.

yeah i know. but im willing to pay for one if its in good order though.

pm sent mate, as it doesnt matter if its in a few months time. as its parked at the olds.

on another note.
i figured out why its drinking excessive fuel and blowing smoke. the bastard has a miss.
im gonna chuck the compression tester on it first before i bother to replace leads etc, no point if i have a blown h\g
it was drinking 60 litres to 230k's, all mostly highway. so something aint happy, or it shows how bad its slipping. it didnt like doing the drive up to the parents though

so essentually the dc has become the project car for a while, in order to fix a few things. as it needs to be done properly.
just going to keep it rego'd as trying to get it through a raody was a kent last time!

anyone know what compression these 5 litre windsors are meant to have?

did a compression test this weekend.
all were around 108 - 110 psi. bar cyl 5 which got 89 psi. :-(
dad reckons i may just have a sticky valve, but i think its more serious than that.. oh well i suppose i wanted to pull the motor out too

so once i get the daily 100% sorted and the eb and ea wrecks gone, i'll get stuck into this. its just going to suck paying the rego knowing it probably wont be on the road for a while
