My BF XR8 - for sale!

Postby jazza312 » January 1st, 2012, 11:34 pm

g'day guys and girls. just thought i'd show off my bf xr8... i think i do have a thread else where but it's a bit of a mess coz it has my other cars in it.
any who, i plan on getting rid of them and just keeping this.

i have had this for a year now (time flies!) i've had a few problems with it but now i plan on spending a few bucks to getting it to where i want it.

the xr has the luxury pack so it has premium sound and dual zone climate control along with leather trim seats and 18" wheels.
current mods are just 3 inch exhaust and momo woodgrain steering wheel.

only other things that are planned are lowering on ultra kings, 19" gt 335 wheels, fairmont ghia rear garnish and de-spoiled or a boot lip spoiler. a cold air intake would be nice too.
I'd ultimately love a bf2 ghia front end as well...

anyway, here are some pics. not much to look at the moment, just a plain old bf xr...

anyway, hope you like.

p.s, if anyone could photo shop my car to king ultra low height with the gt 335 wheels on them, i'd be a very happy man :)

cheers - Jarrod

yeah, it was for sale but haven't had any bites.
in the very near future it will be lowered and on fg 335 19's.

other things will come in time.

i would absolutely love it to be a ghia mock. lol the way a ghia should of been made, with a boss 360,,,

got a set of these in the mail the other day...

Image

i ended up getting 20's because i let my brother convince me that 19's just aren't big enough for the bf shape.
it was always gunna be these wheels or the fg gs wheels. the only rims i really tend to like are ford rims. a lot of other affordable wheels seem cheap and tacky and always seem to be chrome or black, both im not a fan of. lol i use the old keep it simple stupid approach.

also in the mail i received some king ultra low rears and super low fronts. ebay is a good thing some times...

within a week or 2 i plan on having it all put together. the tyres im getting are gunna be 225 35 zr20.
i'll get some photos when its all done, i hope it looks as good as it does in my mind.

cheers.

225 seems a bit skinny yeah? Or is that to keep this legal?

Postby jazza312 » January 23rd, 2012, 10:35 pm

Yeah, it is fairly skinny and the tyre will have to be stretched a bit to go on the rim...
But from wat I understand to get 245s on the front I need 30 profile tyre and I dont think that's enough...
So this way the rim will stick out a bit so I have to be careful of curbs, but i'd rather that than buckle them.

Lol yeah, they definitely aren't very wide tyres... I'm pretty sure I could go wider on the rear but might look a bit shite compared to the front... I'll see how it goes and if I munch the first set in no time i'll look into wider rears.

theres only 5mm sidewall difference between 245/30 and 225/35
245/30 certainly looks better.

But that alters the rolling diameter 10mm and how different is it currently from.standard rolling diameter, if you go too far it messes with abs and tc ect plus all the legalitys

The tyre profile works a 225(mm across)/30(% of width)/r19(rim size).

Should look pretty sweet with the new wheels on it, and some height taken out.

work it out try 245/30r20 compared to stock tyre sizes i think you can legally go 10 mm smaller rollling diameter and 16mm larger rolling diameter??? in qld anyways

thanks for that mate... 245/30r20 is only 1mm difference to stock diameter which is what i'm after i guess.

only thing is im concerned about the amount of side wall i'll have, or lack of. i'm a bit nervous that if i get that size tire i'm going to buckle the rims...

not too bad on the highway at 110, gets ~9L/100km, then around town about 14L/100km, that's with the 6 speed auto. it all depends on how you drive tho. i often find my trip computer averaging up to 19L/100km...

if you buy a v8 tho, the last thing you probably want is fuel economy...

took this photo to try and show the difference in colour when in the sun compared to shade.

Image

it doesn't quite show it as well as i'd hoped but in the sun the colour looks very grey, sort of a slightly lighter ego.

anyway, it's a tricky colour, a lot of people love it, some people don't. lol i'm not the biggest fan of it but its ok.

nice work mate. i was originally looking at those, but generally not a massive fan of black on rims.

the way i finally decided was by looking at a gt-p compared to gt. i thought gt-p looked better so got the gt-p version lol
