That's very true, but then with chrome strips i need new wheels. It's understated atm and i'm alright with that for a while. I need to save some cash before looking for new wheels. It's the never-ending story! just without the flying labrador

Nonsense! :P

I don't get any water/dirt in my guards, and I lipped them ALL the way. If you're going to do it yourself, get a rubber mallet, a heatgun and allow 2 hours.

Haha i KNEW you'd disagree.
Once i sort the guards it'll be all good again. I've been bending it back up myself anyway as i've had to. The lip caught and bent back down today, so i had to fix it tonight. Bloody annoying. I'm heading to canberra on friday so hopefully it behaves itself on the trip

Too right mate. My mechanic was hesitant until i reminded him they're coilovers and adjustable. He then understood why i wanted to swap! Completely adjustable, if i ever get 19's i can adjust to suit. Happy days :drinks2:

At this point it's just the suspension mate. I spoke to my exhaust bloke and we figured to swap headers over it'd be time consuming and costly as theres the LPG converter in the way. I could possibly get the cat-back exhausts swapped, so all the twin system gets swapped to the ghia and the XR8 gets the sports exhaust. It's a possibility i havent looked into properly, as i was a bit put off when we couldnt do the whole lot.

After chatting to my mechanic he reminded me that if i have an idea of where i want to go with the car, stick with it and i'll end up happy. I was getting a bit wishy-washy listening to everyone's opinion. Opinions are like clits, every **** got one ;)

So never say never mate!

Thanks mate, it's a bit like The hus bus but his is a LOT prettier, nice & boosted. I do like the idea of the chrome but atm the wheels will look gay and smaller. That would annoy me. I'm going to get all the bits for the chrome and just store it aside until i decide to put it on

jezush! i was just about to do an update.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, i'd love to have some GT-P's but i have bugger all money. god damn it. How much would you be looking for them?

SO not too much to report with the Ghia. The coilovers have been swapped into it and the Konis have gone into the XR8. They both drive better, i figured the Ghia would, and the suspension suits the lighter steering. The heavier steering in the XR8 goes well with the valving in the Konis. The Ghia is more cruiser and the XR8 feels more composed. fucking happy as!

We had to raise the Ghia a bit too, i was going to be up for another set of tyres soon due to the guards chopping the hell out of the sidewalls.

I finally gave it a proper wash and wax yesterday. This is it with coilovers and new height
Image

another question. I grabbed a carbra off a bloke second hand. I put it on roughly and it looks like it's missing the bottom of it. Thats the part over the bottom of the bar & lip. Have a squiz at the pics. Does anyone know how they're meant to be? anyone got a EF/EL carbra to confirm??

make sure the car is claybarred and waxed before you put that on otherwise it acts like sandpaper! looks to me like a gap left for intake and no covering on the bottom lip.. strange way to make it.

yeah that makes sense, but i hadn't thought of claybarring it. I thought i'd just give it a good wash before hand and make sure the underside of the carbra was clean. i shall look into clay barring

of course. Those two straps hanging down are velcro and they can't just velcro to air. i'm just confirming :P

i might get someone to make something up

yep! it looks dick ugly. I got it as it was cheap and the front of the car was stone-blasted when i drove from from vic to sydney on the hume. I drive down the coast a bit so wanted it for those few occassions per year. It is indeed ugly

And sits nicely on the adjustables.
But that car bra is awful mate.

thanks mate. A good wash did help it. It's just a pain that it gets so dirty in one day atm with all the rain and sydney traffic. I still want to give it a polish and see how it comes out. I did go a bit nuts, i washed all the door jambs and wheel wells. One thing i learnt with the XR8 was to pull off the plastic and cleaning the the rear guard lips, it's a dirt trap
i think it sits pretty nicely. It is a compromise as it is still my daily & i drive on some of sydneys worst roads in it. I can't wait for it to be relegated to weekend duty
yeah the carbra is shit looking, but its a function over form thing. I havent looked into the plastic film stuff. It seems weird and i dont know how long they last and if they discolour etc. I'm sure they're fine but i cant help forgetting the magnetic P-plates getting stuck on cars and leaving marks on the paint

Hey guys, i'd like your opinion on my exhaust tips. I'm having the exhaust tips re-done as they're too short with the ticky kit. I'm looking at stepping them up to either SS twin straight edge 3" or twin SS rolled edge 2 3/4".

Should i have them staggered to follow the bumper curve or coming out even??

WHat size are yours Hus? I have twin 2.5" rolled SS and they looked puny on the non-kitted XR and small on the Ghia with the kit

We mocked up twin 3" and it looked alright without being in your face wanky. I have until friday to figure it out, i've got two types ordered. Then just decide whether to have them come out evenly or staggered :/
