Showroom time.

In short, I bought this cheap and not running in August last year and just finished getting it ready for a rwc today.

Turns out I don't have as much spare time as I thought.

I washed it all by myself. Even went and bought a sponge and soap.

I've still got the ute for now. Need to weld up cooler pipe holes on that too. :|

Next project will be to build a trailer with the shit under the house once the ute sells. Should be completed 2015.

Impossible to sell a V8 these days hey! Pretty good for a station hack, at least its factory. Should do what I do now though, and walk to the station, then it can be weekend only! :D

Not very. 13.6 at 110mph from memory.

Clutch wouldnt hold boost in 3rd and first time out I think. It made 315rwkw on 5 psi or something. Valve springs needed doing for more.

Just because it gets driven to the station doesnt mean it cant be modified. :/

The ute was station hacked while it was turbo, 6 speed.

Across the road from my parents place.

The VX is in pretty good nick though and it's dead stock now. Not sure how he'd go for modded typhoons or green EA's.

God damn it, you paid less for this whole car than I did just to boost mine! :( Plus after said mods, you'll have more power, and still spent less than me! I knew I should'a bought an LS1! :banghead:

It won't make 250. Maybe 230 at a stretch.

That'll do for a near stock car though. Cars don't interest me like they used to. Got new hobbies now. ;)

Dan's LS1 M6 VX exec

It'll probably get mad fuel economy too, my old VT had similar mods and a mail order tune, and got the best economy out of any car I've owned.

Its more then enough i reckon and being a lighter exec you should be able to squeeze in a 12.9 if you cbf racing.

Can't go wrong with catback, OTR & tune on these things - on the early girls especially it transforms them - esp low-mid range.

Scrounge around s/h and you can pickup some decent bargains too!

12.9's - mid 13's and good economy. Sounds good to me.

Once its on the road ill check ebay for bargains. I don't want it loud which might be tricky.

Its already got a HSV exhaust system on it, not sure how it compares to aftermarket but I like how it sounds.

Well to give you an indication mine run a 13.1 and its a fuckload heavier then yours so you should do a fair bit better then mid 13s. You might need to pay for a decent tune though the oztrack mail orders are alright but arent very aggressive overly safe so yea mid 13s lol. Also i drove mine day in day out in traffic with an auto thrashing it and the economy sat in the 14s low 15s which i think is decent for the driving it almost never saw open road. Better then my xr6t ute stock.

I fiddled with a hsv exhaust/extractors back in my vy ls1 they arent much chop to be honest the exhaust still has plenty of bits that are squished/flattened i dunno what for maybe epa or noise requirements. I dunno i reckon my vy sounded nasty but i guess depends on the setup mine had the rear muffler missing so it sounded weird. Look out for a 2nd hand 2.5" difillipo cat back make sure it has all the mufflers you wont be disapointed thats how i bought mine it wasnt overly loud at all. You will find if you go big 4 into 1 extractors is what makes all the noise.

Mine had HSV extractors and twin 2.5" exhaust, wasn't too loud. Also had a OZTRACK mail order tune and a GTS intake pipe, only made 200rwkw so it still felt slow, but total cost was like $700 (already came with exhaust) and it got around 11l/100km

If I was you i'd just get a mail order and ask for max economy, LS won't feel fast unless it's force fed.

If you've already got a HSV catback and you're happy with the sound, just leave it! They're not great, but loads better than the factory Holden systems.

OTR + tune and it's done!

Re mail orders, there are some good guys out there, but just be very careful as there are plenty of bad tuners out there too. A search of a tuner's name on www.ls1.com.au should give you at least an indication.

Thanks guy. Yeah VX has the better intake.

I dunno about those mail order tunes. Seems risky. A mate uses autotechnique and reckons they are good so I might just go there.

The ute doesn't have any bbm switching still so the stock ls1 feels quite quick. Lol

A mail order in an ls1 isnt risky at all. It wont be as good as a proper tune but certainly not risky i havent heard anyone i know with one have any trouble. If you go custom tune please avoid GM Motorsport at all cost! C&A seem reasonable and a good price from what ive heard. CSV used to be the best back in the day but unless you wanna drive to mildura not really an option.

Oztrack sounds the go then if it's going to save me $600.
