FG GT335.. Tuned!

Postby Parfrey » July 31st, 2012, 10:44 pm

Thought I'd chuck up a couple of pics of my latest purchase... 08 G6E Turbo :D

Was looking at getting a FG GS at some stage but this popped up and at about half the price it was hard to pass up! I still want a S/C V8 but I'll keep this for a year or so then maybe look at upgrading.

Has all the normal features (i dunno what is an option on these anyway?) Leather, reverse/sensors camera, electric stuff, 19s, single pegger
So far i'm loving it they are an awesome car well ahead of my old BA. The plan for it atm is to lower it and possibly some light mods down the track. If i find an LSD cheap enough that'll go in.... see how long it takes to get over painting single black lines Lol.

Yeah i need floor mats too these ones don't seem to last very well?

Very nice mate.

One of these would be very nice I'd almost rather it over a s/c gs.

Thanks guys! The colour combo is what sold it.. I love them like this! I need to put a seat cover in asap tho because being a dirty ass mechanic probably won't go too well with the leather haha.

I still don't understand why Ford never put LSD's in them or even had it as an option. I've only done about 350km in it so far but nearly every time i get in the TC/dsc gets turned off for lols.

Mint. That cashmere leather didn't seem to be very popular - its far better than the black I reckon.

What kind of cash did it set you back if you don't mind telling?

Tossing up buying a s/h one of these or a new G6 LE ecoboost.

Great car!

I love the color combo the cashmere leather suit them so well. Such a pity the never came with LSD's and manual! haha

I've seen FGXR6T centers go for $400 so that's not to bad really. Cheap to make power with also. Tune and 300rwkw here you come :D

Cheers bro's!
Manuals are sick fun but this auto is pretty good too... so easy to drive it fast without a fuss.
If anyone hasn't driven an FG and they're contemplating getting one go for it! Such a nice car.
Its done a few Ks (145k) but you would hardly know... seems to have held together alot better than older falcons I've had. No rattles/sqeeks and apart from a tiny bit of diff clunk (normal) it drives awesome!
Hope i can find a diff for around $400 thats pretty resonable.
I paid a bit under 20k for it which is pretty good even considering the Ks.

Couldn't agree more the FG's are a much much better car, even in stock from the XR8 feels so much nicer to drive than my old F6.

Good price to and 145k is nothing on a falcon my old wagon is just about to hit 350k and its still great to drive.

nice pick up there.
colour combo looks awesome. Being a mechanic too i know the dirty feeling on the seats. i hate it seat covers for sure on that interior.
im still stumped as to why there's no lsd either since the xr6 turbo got one and these have the same power output from stock.
but ive driven a few myself and they still get up and boogie very easily and are still heaps of fun.

well done on the pick up under $20k gotta be wrapped with that.
Cheers

Yeah that's it, $2-2500 and you have a 12/high 11sec grandpa car
I couldn't help myself so i got a K+N filter for it, the old one was pretty dirty tho. (that's what i keep saying anyway!) Must resist modding!

Not sure about a manual G6, the ZF is pretty sweet imo. Each to their own!

A few more years and they should be free!! Hmm maybe not. Depreciation probably isn't as bad as the lower km ones when you think about it. At least they got some use out of this while it was depreciating.

Got it through a mate + wholesaler. Right place right time!

Part of me still wants the SC v8 later on... but on the other hand its so tempting to sink some cash into this later on and build a bit of an animal. I'm hopeless!

Got rego finally!
My rwc guy got a digit wrong on the rwc, which i only found out about when the lovely lady at vicroads informed me... so i had to re-book my appointment and all that shit!
Came back a few days later and got it all done (this time another chick didn't notice my SSSL rear springs I fitted in the mean time, F U vicroads!)
So anyway plates are on and rear SSSL springs are in, have to put the fronts in tomorrow. :)

I put SSSL in the front :-P A mate from work has SSL's in the front of his FG xr6 and its only a tiny bit lower than stock...

If it was 5mm or so higher it would be perfect i reckon! Needs a wheel alignment/camber done now. It rides surprisingly well for how low it is, nothing like a lowered eseries thats for sure!
Shit pic but you get the idea.
