Blown EL GT

Always wanted one, couldn't let this one get away :D

Thanks to dcstraight for bringing it to my attention :P

It was for sale on Gumtree, had been listed for various amounts over the last 12 months, but recently had a big price drop.

flights booked to cairns with intentions to buy... regardless of what was wrong with it :P

Picked up from the airport by an EL GT, handed the keys and off i went.
Was extremely surprised by the condition of it, it had been looked after, despite the ~140,000km's

the important bits.

EL GT
Heritage Green
Auto
Sunroof
Powerdyne Supercharger
bigger camshaft
modified extractors
3000rpm stall

there are some issues that need to be fixed to make it closer to 100%
current tune isnt great, i'm assuming its based on TPS only as there is no MAF.
Steering wheel needs recovering, i'll likely get it retrimmed, or swap the one from DTHWGN since its in better condition.
engine bay paint is horrible, has been sprayed at some point but the clear has reacted and needs redoing.
2 centrecaps missing
shifter handle is wrong one

Only got a handful of photos of it at the moment, some of it from when i purchased it.
I plan on getting some nicer photos this weekend.

Awesome purchase! What better way to get accustomed with a new car than driving for 3000km.

The Modenas are an awesome wheel, especially with dish like that. But for some reason they just don't quite seem to suit the GT.

Yeah, i'm undecided on the Modena's.

the rears being 10" wide and having 285's is quite the temptation :P

Holy Jesus those seats!

Great pickup! Saw it up for sale awhile ago and was tempted. If only it was Burgundy!

Even though mine was a wreck I now have even more of an appreciation for the EL GT. best
Interior ford has ever made in IMO and even though the body kit is over the top
Somehow it just all works together. How mint are the seats to sit in? Extremely jealous
Of the purchase john. What are the plans for it? Seems like only minor issues to sort.

I don't recall ever seeing the for sale ad can I ask how much it was advertised for?

Yeah, 3000km in the seats over 3 days and i could have kept going.

Don't have many plans for it, i obviously don't want to ruin it lol.

I'm either going to put my Koni Yellows in it with some slightly lower springs, or i'll get some coil overs.
I want to change the wheels, i'll probably try the Modena's on it again when its a little lower, but i'm undecided.
Will obviously keep the GT's.

Mainly tidy it up, neaten the engine bay and tune it properly.

I got it for $12,500 - which was the advertised price.
Had recently dropped from $13,000 and around 20k before that.

I figured i could realistically sell the wheels and supercharger kit (if i was so inclined) and come out with a sub 10k GT :P

Looks good John.

Make it stock and sell it in 10 years for triple.

Don't race any stock falcons to avoid disappointment. :P

Hahahahaha, It is sad that if it was stock, a BF XT would wipe the floor with it.

But if you're important people will wait.

12.5k seems like a deadset steal.

So much rage for you right now.

Great pick up and the things I would do to get my hands on a EL GT trim for a few days would make your mind boggle.

EL GT is on my bucket list.

Jelly.

I'd get Heritage over a Sparkler any day. If I had've seen it I would lodged my interest with the minister of finance.

Yeah i'm still quite partial to Heritage green.
although its a tough one between Navy and Heritage.

My EF was obviously Heritage green, so i've gone full circle :P
the DTHWGN was a sparkler
the Donor car for the DTHWGN was a Navy Blue Concorde

Hahaha, I actually spoke to my wife before buying, kind of in a hope she'd find some reason to talk me out of it.
One of those 'to good to be true' feelings, but she was all for it :P

Nice pick up mate! Great price too!
I love the wheels but I'm not sure they suit the car?

I still remember years ago before these were released, seeing a group of them fuel up at my parents servo in a small country town... I wonder if I still have the pics of them somewhere?!

Agree with everyone else, so jealous.

Wonder if the values are really starting to drop out of the modern 'collectables' a bit, this was cheap, there's two t3s been sold recently on aff for well under 20k ( one was cheaper than what the el was advertised at), nothing really seems to be selling unless its priced uber sharp...

Good time to be a buyer....
