My first car XR6

Postby khodeer » June 25th, 2013, 5:24 pm

Hey guys.
Im 16 and got my first car, my Ford Falcon AU 1999 XR6.
Its all stock right now, but what will go in it is a pod air filter, and a 2.5" catback with a nice exhaust tip.
I really like it, it is 5 Speed Manual, and I also hardly EVER see black with red stripes and the double spoiler etc, its also ALL Factory Tickford
and only under 150,000 Kilometres. Is this certain model rare? It is ALL stock.
I always lurk around these forums i have gone through every single thread and read everything as I love this kind of stuff
I have noticed you guys dont really like AU's which really suprises me because I really love mine and makes me upset
but I have to learn that I shouldnt ALWAYS worry about what other people think, I really love this forum and would LOVE to keep posting and being
an active member, I also LOVE seeing all your cars and progress'. Take it easy on me guys!
Also they're really shit photos but im going to get better ones its just getting some cosmetic things done at the mechanic right now.

I REALLY, REALLY hope you like it guys, I would love your opinions. Thank you ALL
Khoder.

Don't put a pod on it. Just get a good panel filter.

Looks the goods mate. Just lower it and drive it.

Dont pod filters make it sound better, and better for the air? And fuel economy? And they're cheap too.
I will listen to your advice but cause obviously you know alot, i know afew things but not alot like all you guys.
Thanks man ! Ill definately put up more photos, they're just terrible photos taken very quickly, doesnt do it justice

just stick with a K&N panel filter and get a bigger intake snorkel, typhoon, xr8, etc.. The pod just sucks in extra heat from the engine bay..

It's basically an XR6 with the 17" optional wheels and optional bodykit. On the drivers side shock tower in the engine bah there *SHOULD* be a Tickford plate describing what options the car got.

Once you get proper headers/extractors and a hi-flow cat then yes it will open it up a little.

I've seen on the other posts you guys dont like people with bad spelling and grammar so I thought I would quickly refine
as I also can understand why it would be annoying to hardly understand what someone is trying to express through typing!

Great first car.

Not special but much less common in black with those options. You might find in years to come you end up with about the only one in existence (if you plan to keep it).

I used to consider black ELs special when they were still pretty new, because I only saw 2, and they were completely stock looking so appeared to be factory. Never found out if they could be ordered like that though...

I think I might keep it, really like it and would love to have a 'rare' car or 'collectors' car in 10 years time.
Do you guys have rim suggestions? Or keep those?

This puts me too shame... Nice machine.

Keep it all the way it is, Don't screw around with it. The more bits and pieces you change for personal preference - The more it will devalue the car. I think the AU XR6, Given 15-20 years time, might be something of a classic. So yeah, Original is the way to go - But that's just me :good:

Great car for you!

I wouldnt hold my breath about it becoming uber collectable. ELGT's are collectable, some T series are collectable XYGT is collectable. When I say collectable I mean worth money. Thats not to say a very clean example wont fetch 5k when everything else is getting $500

Do some simple mods as you like, you seem like a good kid so keep within the rules of L's and P's and you wont get hassled by the fuzz.

Thanks heaps guys! I just picked it up from the panel beaters, a few things fixed up and full polish
Also my 2.5" Catback arrived today, will be fitted tomorrow.
And you're right I dont want ANYTHING illegal or not roadworthy on my car, I dont want many cop harassment although I may get it
and honestly, I really want to take care of my car so I will refrain from doing burnouts and all that type of stuff.
Some photos of it today ! Hope you all like

If something is unroadworthy its usually something that is easily changed back so I wouldn't worry about it.

It's only if you get EPA'd then it's life over for the car.

My car is slammed and loud as **** with super dark windows. Never been pulled over or harassed. Just don't act like a noob an you'll be perfectly fine.
Top au. Gotta love black Au's. needs a little more low and she'll look smick

Nice car man looks mint. Love the au xrs. 16 with a car is mint as I had the same but as u may not have much money to spend try not to do cheap and gay mods just to say u done a mod.

Black and white plates
Massive slammage. 10mm over the front tyre and a minimum of 15 over the rear.
Window tint
Clay bar and hand polish to get all the minor scratches out
2 cans of yuk off tyre shine. (One for each side)
Redo red moulds.
Clear side indicators
Nice system nothing over the top
This is all this car needs to be a head turning daily.

Refrain from all gay p plate mods.
EG
Blue parkers
Led washer jets
Blue red green interior lighting
Neons
42inch exhaust tip
Checkerplate metal floormats
