So in January I signed a contract for my new car, 1 drawback... My model variant and colour was a 3 month wait, so after waiting I finally picked up my new car about 4 week's ago so here it is

this is my 2014 Holden RG Colorado LTZ Spacecab with the 6 speed manual
first thing to be fitted was a turbo back 3 inch exhaust with single muffler, gives it the perfect note, really happy with it and completely quiet at idle (cant even tell it has an exhaust)
then i got the leather fitted through the dealer its not genuine
next on the list was a black sports bar, LTZ comes standard with a polished one but didnt like it so put a black one on
before

after

then was my turn to clean it, the detailers were pretty shit

had it looking real nice and shiny all waxed up then the day after i spent all that time cleaning it

went out with a couple guys from work, does allright off road, scuffed up the front bar some, busted a bracket on the left side step and almost pulled the rear step off... on a car less than 2 weeks old lol
anyways soon on the list hopefully is a nice tjm winch bar, scrub bar side steps, rear step and snorkel to finish it off
hope you like it
told you it was boosted

Great cars. Well done. Nothing quite like driving a brand new car.

The reason for buying a 4b was for the safety of my license, it was bad enough for me with a n/a BF falcon let alone a turbo one or v8 and my luck was bound to run out soon so got this

What made you decide on a Colorado?
Oh yeah, plates? Black rig?
Can definitely understand the license issue, I've been down to three points for ages now. It's always in the back of my mind.

Good car. Gotta love the turbo diesel pull.
But they are the ugliest 4wd out at the moment, interior and exterior IMO.
Good to see you using it like it's meant to be used!
Tyres and lift kit planned?

Nice rig mate. They go quite well with a few basic bolt on mods!

I decided on a Colorado because I work at a Holden dealership and this was 13000 less than an equivalent ranger and 4 cyl rego where ranger is 6, but pulls just as good
Almost got the plates right, but I don't call it a 'rig' it's just black RG, (its an RG Colorado)
It's not so bad anymore if you've seen the my14 with mylink, but didn't buy it for looks anywways
Tyres and lift are planned but after bar work is on so I can get appropriate front springs,
Rollin this already has a torsen rear diff which has aalready proven more than capable and I don't feel like dropping a heap of money on the driveline yet wait till out of warranty maybe
What are these bolt ons you speak of private 9?? Engine or other?

Yeah ranger prices are up there lol. Didn't realise these were 4 bangers either.
They're certainly not my favourite 4x4, but they are still 11ty times better than even the best of them used to be not all that many years ago.
Working at Holden you would get a good handle on any reliability issues too. Are the Holden 4x4s still built by Isuzu?

The only shared part on these models is the chassis and suspension, early ones had some issues but were very quickly rectified and we havent had any on the latest ones

Rangers are 5 cylinder.
Nice looking Ute.
We drove a dual cab Colorado auto not long ago. Couldn't really fault it, just had a lot more engine noise then the others.

I was thinking about a cooler but I'm a bit unsure if it may interfere with fitment of a winch

so a litle bit of an update, this got rear ended a few weeks back from a hilux driver who wanted a closer look
his car

mine

note, scratch is from 4 wheeling
took less than 3 weeks to get it repaired and get it back, new tailgate, rear step and 2 plastics, reverse sensors still good (surprisingly)

just me making friends on lilleys beach near gladstone, he got bogged and fried his clutch... completely, you could have it idling and still change gear with clutch released

then last week i fit a snorkel and promplty took it to get it dirty

currently talking with walkinshaw about their tunes for these (not yet available for MY14) but they've been getting big numbers out of MY13 like 600nm, cant remember the power but was a good increase, next on the list i want a rear step, i half broke my last one before i got rear ended and broke the new one again, not enough departure angle, and it just shovels dirt under the plastic and pops the screws

It's been good to me, especially after the treatment I give it, i do recommend these for people to buy for a decent value for money tow vehicle, the only downside is the suspension is really stiff but it's a commercial vehicle so doesn't bother me unless I drive for 7hrs+

Got the big brute tuned, could not be happier with the outcome, the tuner said it's the most powerful Colorado they've had to date and they didn't have to try hard to get that figure, either way pulls way better than it used to and ot was no slouch before either

Yep, definitely torque limited looking at the standard graph,
amazing what an intercooler and exhaust can do with a retune especially when the non believers say the larger intercooler don't work on these

Huge improvement! I'm more impressed with that's prior to 110kph, all of that useful everyday driving powahh & torques.
That bottom line represents my Hilux lol
