EL Fairmont Ghia

Postby Russ. » April 13th, 2008, 10:27 pm

Thought it was about time I posted some pics of my new toy!
I've owned it for almost 2 weeks, bought it to replace my old EB (EB now for sale: http://www.eafalcon.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3195&p=58034&sid=265315bd666c2a86886cae7179f87016)

Anyway, here's the new ride, 96 EL Ghia, got it for a fairly good price. Its 100% stock I6 auto. My mechanic serviced the auto for me as soon as I got it and said that other than the transmission its one of the best condition EL's he's seen so that was encouraging! I brought it on the cruise on Friday the 4th

Plans at this stage are to sort out a few small problems (harsh shifts in transmission, rattle from factory sub) and there's also a trolley dent I'll be getting fixed which I would have done already but some C**T wiped off my driver's mirror so I had to fork out for a new one of those instead.
Once I've got those fixed I'll be putting it on gas (once the EB sells I'll hopefully have the $$$ to get it done) which will be good since I'm a student, and the extra weight will help with the 4WD spec ride height!

In the future it will be lowered (when I can afford it) and get some nice wheels, I want a set of Simmons FR's or AJR Signatures (or replicas) in 17 or 18 inch which I think will look good on this car/colour, otherwise I'm thinking BF GT wheels. Other than that it will stay pretty standard until I finish uni and get a decent job, then I'll decide its fate from that point on.

Alternatively if the EB doesn't sell then the EL might get lowered much sooner, and it might even get the T5 Conversion whacked into it since I think the driveline in my old EB is out of an EF/EL anyway! Only time will tell I guess!

Cheers,
Russ.

225 000 which isn't too bad, doesn't leak fluids (powersteering and auto extension housing leaks fixed at roadworthy) and the motor hasn't missed a beat since I got it... Pulls a nice standstill (on my private, bitumen driveway ;) )
I'm actually spewing that Sundeep's ghia is up for sale now, I'd have been pretty keen on that if I was still looking!

Yeah its a decision between putting in a T5 because its more fun etc. but the car is so good that I don't want to change anything, in case it goes sour!
Good luck with yours!

Thats some low K's you've got on yours!
Yeah the ride height will get fixed....eventually, although I am enjoying the fact that it gets into my driveway without scrapage! First LPG then I'll be able to get the cash together to make it look nice :)
All in all I agree these EL Ghias are a fantastic car!!
