plans

turn it into this

Image

with a hint of this

Image

I originally wanted a real cranky pig clevo but im going to build a basic CHI headed stroker, probably even using a hydraulic cam. I wish to now keep the top loader, it'll only take 450hp reliably. If i build the motor right, bigger hp would come from cam, carb and intake changes later on...that would mean a TKO or auto but.

Sorry no skids :( It wasnt ever running the best, and what pics I did have I lost with a HDD fail 6 months ago. It still ripped em pretty good but

as it stands now

351/toploader/9in, king springs and konis (std springs rear, lowered ones front. the last owner was still in the 80s)

no rust

Paint is rooted, crows feet and cracking all over it

and thats basically it. Interior is pretty trash but one day i'll replace it. I can buy most of the car new now with all the repo bits out for it.

20k would see it painted and RWC with some clevo hotness. 30k would see it finished to my satisfaction. It'll never be a show car, just a tidy loud thrash box that i'll get some money back on if i ever sell it lol.

im getting married in 7 weeks, a few things need doing around the house after that, maybe start to strip it over xmas?

it started life as a bronze wine 6 cyl Fairmont, was converted to V8 many moons ago. The shaker will stay, i plan to piss off both front spoilers and do the GS thing rather than GT

White is the shit i agree, i'll just go with saddle (brown) to begin with because the repo trim sets cost huge $$$ and they are vinyl. I'm more interested in getting it to go stop and steer first.

My mates reckon i should skip the paint even for now, just get it beaten and throw some whitewalls and hubcaps on it as per this pic

Image

I'm leaning to this option more every day

Do you own a tattoo shop?
Are you a patch member of a bikie gang?
Are you grossly overweight?
Are you bald?

If less then 3 of those apply, I would not do the matte paint thing.

This is BLACKXT on the forums here , hes doing the whole mat look hes going like efi 4ltr turbo
Image

Yeah definately go GS over GT.

Engine combo sounds good :) mine had a 289 in it with the 302 heads and it was the slowest POS ever lol , when it gets finished i wanna 460 :P

i had the brown interior in my xr wagon for a little while , wasnt happy with it tho so i have black Fairmont interior which i actually found supprisingly easy to get hold of .

in a way your lucky you got the sedan , my wagon its almost impossible to find a tailgate skin and internals that arent totally rusted . fairmonts being electronic rear windows make things difficult.

it looks like a good base to start with, good to see your not going to turn it into a GT mock up like everyone else seems to do...

Also FYI Alesia, a GS could be optioned with any model falcon apart from GT. So you could get a falcon 500 GS, Fairmont GS etc. you basicly got a few GT spec parts like the steering wheel, tacho dash and a few others when you ticked this option.

here is a pic of my dads one he has had for years and wont sell to me :(

It now has painted 12 slotters with the stainless dress ring and centre cap, also the GS stripe is removed. It was the car i learnt to drive in and was my transport for over a year until i bought my own car.
