Also found out they want 190$ for a courier from mornington for the other stuff, so im leaving work around 12ish for a hour or so to go pick it all up.

YBHVE4 - Im located S.E Melbourne,

FROST - I got petrol / gas 4.2, looked a td42 SWB but was rusted to the shit house and he wanted 6grand still and i got this for 3.5 so i aint complaining.

Looks good, the best GQ colour. They look tough as with black wheels and bars.

Thats mad.

I wish I had time and skills to make my own gear. It would have saved me heaps of cash.

Mine is alright. I fixed a leaking axle seal last weekend then went out and the throwout bearing started making noises so the box has to come out before I drive it again. :(

I scored an EFI dizzy and manifold on ebay yesterday for $220 so I want to do an efi conversion next. Just need an ECU and fuel pump.

That looks tuff as! Go fit the rears right now then find something to climb over :P

I do have a question, why do 4wd'ers (not Toorak Tractors) take the 4/5-poster bullbars off to fit the nudge bar type setup?

That's a race bar. Pretty much just a winch/lights/antenna mount. It offers SFA protection when you hit a roo/cow/coon at 110 kph, but you don't exactly come across that much in comps and what not. Weigh a lot less than full bars as well, which is a plus for comps. I'm keeping my full bar because I plan on doing a bit of touring. No way I'd want to hit a big red or grey at speed with that bar.

The GQ looks massive! Ill measure mine but I dont think its anywhere near that high.

Dan, soon as i bring the rear up the front will drop down a inch or 2, hope it doesnt drop to far.

About to pull backseats, and carpet out to run airlines to console, for gauges and wiring for switches and solenoids.

Then its just remove coils and put in the rear airbags, if i dont like the air bags ill replace them with coils and see how it goes.

Thats huge.

Is that diff rolled forwards lots or is it the angle of the pic? Will the drop boxed fix it or will you need new arms?

Re: My Patroool ** The Ground to Gaurd 44inches **

PostPosted: September 21st, 2008, 12:19 pm
by DaNeOs
Dan, when you go past 3" Suspension lift the angel on the Main control arms for the diff goes up , instead of staying roughly straight.
The drop boxes also work as a gearbox rear mount spacer to fix the angle on the drive line, it mounts between the gearbox mount and chassis, and uses the old eyelet for the control arm as extra mount, then it has a new eyelet for the control arm 2 - 3" lower than the original to reset the control arm straight, ill get a pic for you if you want?

Well the rear end is set up and working, just need to adjust the solenoids.

Things to do -
Wire Winch
Mount Second Battery Tray
Steering Dampner

Then its off for a test in Gembroke

Well 1 side drop box is in, but its a PITA to get the diff to roll back to the angle it needs to be at.

Been speaking with the guy that i get all my parts from and he thinks i have a dodgey solenoid for the air bags,as the passenger side goes up real quick where the drivers side takes a whilst.

When I put spacers in behind my lower control arms I spent all day fucking around trying to move the diff forward enough to fit them then discovered that I had maxed out the front tailshaft so it couldnt move anymore forward. I undid the tailshaft then it moved easy.

Not sure if that helps you or not.
