Turbo Uterus

Had this baby for a while. Best car Ford has ever made etc etc.. Anyway I took a few pics of it today while it was clean for 5mins. Never buying a black car again.

Image

Factory options include leather interior, premo sound, 18in wheels.

Other than that It's pretty standard. It has a Typhoon intercooler, I put some Boost/Oil pressure gauges in one of those fibreglass gauge holders, K&N panel filter, Kings SL's at the front and rear springs reset to match. When I see one for cheap I'll put a Typhoon 2nd CAI in it

Not long after I got it I ran it at Calder to see how fast it was, best time I managed was 13.8@101mph or so (2.1 60'). Which probably isn't too bad for a ute running standard boost. If it had a better clutch could probably get it down to 13.5 or so, but the T5 would probably pop (its already making some alarming noises now & then).

Anyway, don't really plan to mod this any further. Just keep looking after it and destroying LS1's, might get the front resprayed at some point.

Thanks for the comments guys. It's a good car but it has too many camshafts I reckon, SOHC FTW!

I might take you up on that spray work D1SCNT! Tho I'd rather you sell me your ED XR headlight surround! :P

HOLY ANCIENT THREAD

Image

This clocked over 200k km's recently. Had fkall problems with it over 7ish years and 150k km's over ownership. Best car evar. <3 Still looks pretty good when its been washed. Got the front sprayed again recently cos I backed out of a driveway and tore the bumper off on a low gutter. Oops.

My only real beef with it is it should have come out of the factory with the BF2 XR8 brakes that it has now.

Keep servicing them and they will last forever I reckon. Will probs buy an FG2 G6LE Ecoboost in a few months for my girl.

Solid effort. Never had turbo off or lost or loose bolts from exhaust side? Motor still sounds all good and shit? Keen to know what one with so many KM would feel like - since there's a lot out there these days.

Motor still sounds OK. Could do with some timing chain guides I reckon. Trans is a bit noisy when its cold. Tailshaft centre bearing is flogged again after replacing it not even 10k km's ago. NFI whats up there - maybe because its pretty low at the back??

Other than that, over the years I've replaced-

- T5Z - when I see a reasonably priced T56 up for sale I'll probably change it again - this one is a little noisy
- Set of coilpacks (twice)
- Front wheel bearings
- Rotors & pads (fronts three times, rears once) I usually get a lot of KM's out of brakes cos of the way I drive - coast up to lights/etc
- Clutch & CSC
- Wastegate actuator
- Fog lights (twice)
- Couple of random cooler pipe hoses
- Tailshaft centre bearing
- D/S door lock/actuator
- 4-5 sets of tyres

I check the manifold & turbo bolts when I service it - they usually have slackened off a little. I replaced the ex housing gasket when I changed the actuator. Some people reckon they dont even have a gasket - mine definitely did.

Thats about all I can think of?? I reckon its really solid effort too.

Its funny driving a standard XR6T around - most people seem to think its probably a flash tuned monster and don't want to run you

This. So worth it.

Thread more proof all Falcons are bulletproof when treated with respect.

My old one had 240,000 no problems with driveline at all still pulled ok. Was just all the ba crap like heater not working door locks etc. hoping my one now pulls up pretty good as unlike the old one it's been looked after will see time will tell
