Postby wolfblass » November 26th, 2012, 4:13 pm

Had to raise the front, couldn't turn at all. I have it sitting just below the tyre atm and only scraped on full lock which is fine as the guards a lipped although i might get the guards modified so i can run it that low all the time.

Also im after a decent panel beater, one that actually does a good job. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great. (would like an actual business if possible)

Thanks for the comment guys

coilovers are excellent. Can make it fairly soft but can also make it extremely stiff. Overall the product is pretty good. Need to get the cars aircon re gassed though. found out the hard way today when it was blowing hot air on a 38 degree day!

Yeah coilovers are handy like that.
Its definitely needing a regas? Mine switches between cool air to full hot, PITA! I remember an old calais i had did something similar and it was the blend motor which clapped out. Fairly simple but had me stumped for a while

Ive already tried that, can also head the blend door moving so its not that.. heater does not work either, fucked it i knew Ive tried everything. heater core may be block and with the aircon there are no leaks or nothing.

cbf with it might take it to ford every other mechanic seem to scratch or do nothing to the car. There the only joint that takes care of it.

Re: Wolfblass XR-GHIA - UPDATES

Postby wolfblass » March 27th, 2013, 10:28 pm

haven't updated my thread for a while but a bit has changed in a few months

had major surgery so i had a bit of time to think, ended up purchasing my dad gt from him. I couldn't drive it as i was till on my p plates but still managed to purchase numerous items and install it all while i got my hands on the car. the following has been done (just got my full license last week):

Full pedders coilovers
Full leather interior (thanks to gill)
brand new fog lights
full detail
black venetians
hi beam, low beam, parkers and fog lights all changed to phillips diamond vision
Purchased a full sound system which consists of the following - alpine headunit, 2 alpine type r subs, focal speakers, alpine PDX amps, all wiring etc. Im getting the box custom made for the boot and ill do the whole install myself.
Scored a near brand new Xforce stainless steel cat back which im waiting to throw on (next month ill get some difilippo extractors)
sunroof will be going on in the next month or so

the car Absolutely awesome to drive compared to the ef, much quicker and its a V8. people complain about boss engines being sluggish.. this thing definitely moves and makes the right noises!! and nothing falls off!

Image
Image
Image

The ef still hasn't been forgotten. plans are now full steam ahead. Car is at the mechanics getting the engine rebuilt as there was some problems of it blowing blue smoke after the first rebuild. long story short its getting a full rebuild AGAIN.

Ive been sourcing numerous panel beaters, polo body works and racepaint seem to be the most ideal as the work i want done wont be easy. Engine bay will be rewired, turbo will go on and the engine bay will be shaved. im going to be stripping the car back and coloring the whole car a new colour (Will still be a purple) Interior will be getting done by creative auto interiors and the simmons will make there way onto it. Also have the 4 subs laying in the spare room to go in the boot which i have designs for.

I'm thinking of doing something out there and going suicide doors but its still undecided.

i don't plan on getting rid of the EF so this build will take its time. in the meantime im just going to enjoy the gt and work on the ef when i can! im going to take some high resolution photos over the easter break so stay tuned!

Two mint cars, well done. Just like that dude with the ESP and the EL XR lol.

You better buy yourself a spare front bar for that GT! It's hard enough getting around at stock height in one of them!

I know what you mean with that front bar. Im pretty cautions with which driveways i take. nearly got stuck over the weekend on a steep driveway.. having it that low doesnt help but i made it. i also know that genuine bars are not cheap!! If yourself or gill have a bf bar laying around i may take it off your hands.

Pretty happy with both cars just need the ef back from the engine builder and ill get both cars together for a photoshoot!.

yeah i still have it, just sold the wheels off it so its currently sitting on stockies. looking for a new wheel at the moment.

ive found a few but im unsure of the offsets i need. being a 19x9.5 with an offset of +0, will this foul on the front? or would a + 12 suit better?

im sure a lot of people are aware that the rim choices for eseries sucks, so im trying some stance wheels with aggressive offsets which may suit eseries.

+12 would be better. 0 offset would probably fit but you'd need to give the guards a massage and run some camber.
I had 9.5 +18 on my au xr8 with slight camber and they sat "stanced".

I like the look but got sick of hearing the tyres rub when pushing hard on corners
