Postby wolfblass » March 13th, 2009, 6:36 pm

hey guys, just got my first car, its a bit stock atm but im already looking at getting 19inch dark agents and lowering it on pedders sports ryders with ultra low king springs, not to sure how it will go on the 19s but here is how i got it.

1996 Ford EF fairmont Ghia series 2 in boredox purple with the lot, sunroof, premium sound, full electrics, tickford engine, lsd and it came with 16 inch rims as well as 12 months rego, got it all for a awsome price and the body is fairly straight with a few dints but overall i love the car
Image

after getting the road worthy done, my brother had a set of turbo blades laying around in the garage so i chucked them on as they looked more classy. We headed to wash and polish the car, came out really well
Image

i really happy with the car but cant wait to dig into modding it:)

cbf updating but a few things have changed. Got a mint el grill, and a set of nl cornering lamps off DCstraight, auto woodgrain surround from private9, painted calipers red and the slotted rotors black changed the usual crap ( bearings, hoses and senses) it will be on gas as of wednesday, 2.5 inch ultra flow lukey exhaust with chrome dumpies sounds pretty mint

its sitting on pedders shortened shocks, ultra lows on back and pedders super on front sits fair low, almost rim tuck when its fueled up.

The spoiler has been removed as well as a huge dint on the passenger rear, they are waiting to get resprayed but atm we haven't had time

just needs a ticky kit now, ill take some more photos as the weather has been good

Re: My EF GHIA

Postby wolfblass » March 24th, 2010, 8:22 pm

well its been a while since i last updated, im fairly happy with how the car has turned out. I've put the whole tickford kit on ( taken the rear off to hack the exhaust outlet bigger for the twin dumpies) did the whole front end with new slotted and drilled rotor with new pads, sprayed the calipers red and just recently i got a pretty decent sound system in the car which consists of alpine headunit, focal 6inch spilts, focal 6inch speaker in the back, 12inch soundstream t5 sub in comp box, soundstream 1500rms mono and a soundstream 600rms 4 channel.

i also scored a defect for being to low which was a pain in the ass as it was only the exhaust hanging low at 70mm whereas the body is 105mm. i got standard springs from private9 which helped get the defect taken off.
Image

Image
although i changed the springs back to standard, the ass end rose to 230mm from 70mm which was quite amusing as the chick that came to inspect my car for the ride height just laughed and just signed the ticket.

in the meantime im looking to come on an eseries cruise so i guess when a fair bit of people going, ill go too:)

Ive posted this photo a couple of times but its the most best photo i have of the car atm

Image

hope you guys like what i've done

EF GHIA REBUILD + PICSS

Postby wolfblass » June 13th, 2011, 3:34 am

Might as well update my thread. Car has had massive work done to it.

Engine was ripped out as it was blowing a shitload of smoke, main bearings etc all fucked. Once it was pulled out it was sent of for a complete rebuild, i had told the builder that the car will be running boost later in the future so stronger oversized pistons were put in 40 thou. Block was chemically cleaned, deck, honed, balanced, and all painted. Head was fully rebuilt and my rocker cover was sent of to get powder coated as i was sick of it chipping off. New timing cover, chain, welsh plugs, oil pump were also put on

Image
Image

Whilist the engine was getting rebuilt i decided to buy all the accessories new as the existing ones were farked from the sludge. New coilpack, eagle leads, alternator, water pump, powerbond balancer, thermostat housing upper and lower, full gates hoses including heater tap, idler pulley, radiator, coolant bottle and battery were all purchased. i scored a set of paceys cheap and got a ballastic 100cpsi cat put on to it too as the stock ones looked shit. Every single nut was cleaned a resprayed throttle body and BBM was soaked in degreaser as there was oil inside them all.

When i got the engine back i was told it had already been rebuilt before as it was 20thou already over, mind you the car has only done 210,000km? once the engine was home i decided to detail the engine bay and polish it all up before the motor was dropped in. The whole gas system was also ripped out as its caused nothing but headaches since day 1.

Image
Image

Car is now running VERY well with not 1 drama so far, runs a lot smoother and goes a lot better. Turned first go which was good no work needed to be done in order to fire it up.

Im now in the process of replacing every bush in the car as well as new steering rack, ball joints , tie road ends and 30mm whiteline swaybar thanks to justin at tuff car parts online!!, . I also scored rear venetians from a guy in geelong.

plans now are for the car to go in for a complete respray in the same factory colour but with high metallic mixed with house of kolor ultra thin flakes. Might also try whitewalls on it LEGALS of course as it gets attention already. But really im just enjoying it and im looking forward to boosting it!

Here are some pics of the car enjoy

Postby wolfblass » June 14th, 2011, 3:16 pm

Vegabass the Rebuild cost was pretty good majority went to machine work, balancing etc. The head wasn't too expensive either i got it fully rebuilt but didn't get any porting done that will be done when the turbo kit is ready to go on. I didn't skimp on anything and i made sure everything was done right by taking it to a proper joint who knew wtf they were on about. Every part accessory/part was not reused, new ones were just purchased as i cbf with any more problems later down the track apart from the AC compressor which was 600 bucks brand new (fark that) . After the respray is done, turbo kit will be the next thing as well as a stronger tranny + hi stall. i will be aiming for 300+ but there's still a while to go as I'm still on my p's.

Hus, i don't like the el door moulds, if anything i'll just buy chrome tape and put it on It looks more cleaner one colour anyway.
