hey guys and girls,

My name is Shav, Im new to this site and to having a boosted falcon.

Very recently supercharged my 2000 AU2 75th Anniversary Futura.

Im hoping to learn a few things here. I reckon this site will come in handy.

My car has the folowing mods:
Raptor V Supercharger
2.5" Redback Mandrel Exhaust
hiflow cat
Pacemaker 4480
HD trans cooler
Eibach Springs
BOGE shocks
Whiteline Sway Bars
3.45 LSD
18" Speedy Envy MkIII

running a conservative tune of about 6-8lbs I was told by tuner.

Its not pulling as much power as I want but hopefully that will change. Aiming for 200rwkw on unopened engine and no FMIC. Gonna change exhaust to 3" and run a smaller pulley for some more boost.

Its a start.

Hey Shav, nice AU! Those wheels look great with that much dish ;-)

I remember your old light blue EB XR8 was quite a nice car, good luck with this one mate.

oneredED - geez mate, that EB is going back some years. Yes already this car is producing more power than the old EB. But I still loved the EB for its note alone.

SnyperEB - Thanks mate, I reckon the output is a little low for my liking considering they are supposed to pulling closer to 200rwkw. But I reckon thats due to the restrictive exhaust. Will rectify that in the future.

Nicest AU around, seen you on Fordmods.

How does it feel compared to stock?

I know nothing about these superchargers. From the shots I've seen it all looks alot more simple to setup than the turbo.

SLO247 - The car when driven normally, drives like a normal car. You wouldnt tell it was boosted until you sink the right foot. Its hard to explain. But its not like a turbo car where you get a big rush after 3000rpm. Its acts more like a NA car but with way more power and urgency. Very easy car to drive. The setup is extremely simple. According to Raptor, it shouldnt take anyone handy with a spanner more than 3-4 hours to fit the kit. Plus you can still use your existing exhaust system. As easily as it was fitted, it can be unbolted should you decide to sell the car etc.

BROCKB8 - Hey mate, cheers for the wheel comments. It took quite a while to choose a design that suited the car without copying everyone else. I personally am not a fan of fitting FPV/XR copies etc. So I purposely spent extra to try and go for something classy that not many have seen on the same car. Im glad Im not the only s/c powered car here. It sounds like there is a minority of this setup. :P

EFFalcon - Hey mate, long time no hear. I'll take your comments as a compliment. My intention for this car was to achieve a 'sleeper' style for it. Im not into attracting the boys in blue with full on bodykits etc. I just wanted the outside kept simple with a bit of goodness under the bonnet. Im loving the boosted scene. Its great to now own my own version of a boosted falcon.

theboss290 - Hey Dan. The s/c does have a subtle whine to the operation of it, and gets higher pitched as the revs increase. In no way is it intrusive inside the cabin, but it does sound different to NA. Its kinda cool, as it sounds like a jet on take off when you plant the foot. lol. When you open the bonnet with the motor running its more audible. Its such a small unit compared to the capa ones, but still packs a decent punch when needed. Its perfectly sized for the street, moderate power and street use. I recommend getting one just fo the ease of its setup especially if you have an I6 engine. Just dont go too overboard with the boost if your engine is factory stock NA. Im keeping mine to a max of 10lbs for this reason. Its still safe for what it is. HEAPS of torque too.

Im looking at getting a smaller pulley which should get me to around 10lbs of boost, plus looking at ditching the 2.5" exhaust in place of a 3". With a bit more tuning, Im hoping to hit the goal of 200rwkw from an unopened falcon. Also looking at upping the S5 solonoid pressure to give me firmer shifts too.

I've rambled on enough. But happy to chat about it. Im still buzzing with it though. Its a great feeling and you cant help but sink ya foot and feel the torque push ya into ya seat. For those thinking of doing it and dont want to much around with the engine too muck internally, consider one of these kits. Its very user friendly, and over a matter of days you could have boost. :yahoo:

wow, very clean AU i love it. the wheels suit the car very nicely. im looking at a raptor V charger kit for my ef, maybe you can help me out with some pro tips :thumbsup:

Hey mate, good work on going the Raptor! Its a top setup for not all that much cash! I wish I could keep mine a little longer, but my first house beckons! I am a bit surprised you only managed to get 175rwkW though, what tune are you using? Is it just the generic? I didn't think the auto sapped so much power! About the only difference between mine and yours, besides mine being manual, is that i have a Tickford cam. Yet I managed to get 195rwkW! I recon, before you go chucking more boost at it, see if you can get a full custom tune if you haven't already. From what I can see you have the white Bosch injectors, did you get a bigger fuel pump to feed them?
Anyway, good luck with it mate, would be awesome to see one of these exceed 200rwkW!!

I have thought about it but havent looked into it. Not sure if I was gonna go that way or FMIC.

Can someone tell me point blank if its possible for the following:

My car running the specs as shown in sig with about 175rwkw but heaps of torque vs 2001 S15 Nissan 200sx 6 spd, pwr fmic, larger turbo, pulling about 190rwkw.

Who would have a better chance of winning in a drag, and if its the 200sx, what can I do to my car to better my chances?

Thanks to SimonL last night, I got my boost gauge fitted where I wanted it as well as the switch and dial fitted nicely for my shift kit.

The gauge is a cheapy but it does what I want. The multy colored options are a bit w@nk but I only paid $50 for the gauge brand new so I didnt really care.

The shift kit switch and dial I wanted fitted nicely and that was the hardest part in locating an area that didnt ruin any original parts I couldnt replace easily.

If I need to I have replacement parts for any mod I do internally which is good for future references.

But again, a big thanks to Simon for his help especially considering the fiddliness of what needed to be done. Plus he stayed up late for me after work to get it sorted which I appreciate.

Sweet ride man, if you don't mind, could you PM the details/cost of the charger setup as I'm rebuilding my enigne soon and I am looking at either turbo/blower/nos or a combination :grin:

Fairmont XR6 - the kit I bought second hand, so price wise it will be much different to buying the kit retail. But shoot me a PM and I will break down the costs that I spent.

Troutman - cheers mate. Its getting there. lol No I havent raced the nissan yet, his car was defected recently and he had to spend a crap load to put it all back to stock to get it thru regency. Not sure if he will give me a go now he's running stock boost. lol

John - Thanks mate, I saw someone put a guage in the same position in their AU and liked it instantly. It just looks neat and doesnt obstruct vision or important other instrumentation.

ELOVER - thanks dude, I like em too. I have only seen 1 AU, 1 BA, a few commordores and 1 magna with those rims.

During the run in period they are quite noticeable, but after that they quieten down a far bit, but not to the point of not being able to hear them.

Sounds can be described as between a gilmer belt drive and a power steering belt. Or something that effect.

Just and update

Hey fellas, its been a while since I last posted.

A few things have been taking a lot of my time, but I have made some improvements on the car which has netted some surprising results.

I recently ditched the plastic elbow between the TB and the s/c in lieu of a mandrel bent pipe with silicone joiners and some professional hose clamps. This helped seal the TB off some what as I was losing boost somewhere. I gained about 0.5lb of lost boost and instantly felt the difference.

some time went by, and I was in the process of doing more until I found out my house was struck with termites. :( So in the past 4weeks we have been frantically rebuilding part of the house so we can move back in. Alot of our savings had to go into the house as our insurance didnt cover us for termite damage. *note to home owners - CHECK YOUR POLICY*

So in spite of having this potentially finance crippling disaster, I was still able to have a small win just yesterday.

Thanks to Peuty for helping me out with the ebay purchase of a new Delco coil pack, I needed to replace my old one as the car was becoming increasingly difficult to start when hot. I ended up getting this off ebay for what I would regard as pretty cheap.

I also noticed that there was a black plastic plate that sits between the TB and the ISC that is used for LPG reasons. This I reckon was also contributing to boost loss as it was directly connected to a one way valve in the rocker cover for vacuum reasons. A one way valve is ok for NA applications, but for boosted applications I believe it leaked up to 0.5lbs. This was just a theory of mine.

I booked my car in with Bruce Heinrich about 3 weeks ago to get him to:
1. remove the black plastic plate between the TB & ISC
2. block off any leakages around the TB and ISC
3. fit the new coil,
4. install a valet tune to my flash tuner
5. retune the car and add more timing/fine tuning.

This all happened yesterday.

The results? They are VERY suprising by my standards. Im not willing to post up numbers just yet, but I will say that Im extremely impressed with Bruce's abilities to safely wring out extra grunt in an otherwise stock engine, and all in standard dyno settings. (i.e. not shootout mode)

After this weekends dyno day on Sunday at Towler performance, I will post up the NEW dyno power readout.

But to explain the changes made, there is heaps more throttle response, more torque across the rev range but mainly from mid to upper rev range. The car just wants to pull even harder. Torque readings I forgot to ask Bruce about, but I would certainly say they have increased to well over 500Nm at the engine. (previously was at about 480ish NM). The engine is running smoother, starting is almost instant. But I reckon I could be getting some injector leak if only minor.

All in all, Im massively excited and impressed with that has happened. Plus I didnt have to pay thru the nose to get it done per KW extra.

Possible future plans according to what is recommended by Bruce are:

* Intercooling. still deciding between WTA or ATA.
* Cam change
* Pulley change on the s/c to increase boost.

Dont forget, Im getting this great increase with a auto slushbox. Heaven knows how much extra Id gain IF I did a manual conversion. :P

Thanks John, yeah I was surprised to say the least when Bruce approached me with the new read out.

Car feels heaps more responsive downlow. lights up at the lights with little to no problems what so ever.

Bruce could have gotten more from the tune but backed it off due to pinging. Will be looking into WTA intercooler setup in the future with smaller pulley for some more boost. All from an unopened engine. Final Goal is 210rwkw minimum + tuning.
