Boosted Falcon

Every one else has one so I thought I might aswell!!

Let me start off by Introducing myself.

My name is Nick and my car is a series 1 EL XR8.

I have owned the car for 3 years now it started out life stock as a rock, and me not being that mechanically minded I just jumped on the forums and started to learn/read and get ideas of what I can do to the car. After learning that the heads and manifold on my car were useless. I set about doing some research on which areas of the car I should work on first whilst I built up the cash to tackle the big stuff (heads, cam & manifold).

So first mod was sort of an accident, I took the car for a service after I took ownership and the mechanic mentioned he had a series 2 diff off an EL2 xr8 just sitting there. It has the 3.45 ratio and not the 3.23 ratio my car came with. This gave it a noticeable increase in take off speeds, sorta gets a little sideways if you tromp it off the line (even in the dry). I stress the word little.
Next mod came on a drive to the dandenongs where my trannie wouldn’t get out of second gear, that was an interesting drive home I tell you! So I got the box re-built and strengthened along with a shift kit, it now chiprs in to second and has a nice upshift in to the next gear. Then got the white dials and fitted them myself. It was a little after that, it seemed everyone was talking about underdrive pullies on the forums, So I thought why not they are pretty cheap, so I purchased the race series from BPT. The car seemed that little more willing once fitted. It was a while between drinks for the car and that’s how it stayed for the next year. I then got an AU top end that I haven’t got around to fitting yet as I lost my job last year and almost sold the car….But, Im back at work and the AU top end is next on the cards. But here are some pics. Oh and I forgot but somewhere in there she copped a full exhaust system from hallam performance- Good ol Barney did a great job,Stainless steel extractors, opened up cats & twin 2.25 into single 3”. So here are some pics of my lil beast, Any comments/criticism is welcomed, Open to any ideas you guys want to thow at me....enough jibber jabber and bring on the pics hey!!

Yeah I want to take the tow bar off but I dont know where to get one of those gap filler things to fill in the hole....But on another note, Im unemployed once again, so the car is on hold, This god damn econmic crisis is killing me, I think I need to get out of banking all together..!!!

That sux. Hopefully you don't have to look at selling it again. Just go to a wrecker to get the bumper insert.

Bit of an update, the AU top end was sold off due to breaking up with my finace and losin my job, I sorta lost interest in cars, but have found a good job, and she is gonna get some work done..
first off, my mate got a BA bulge for his car, so we had to sit it on mine to see what it looked like, will be getting mine sumtime next week...here are the shots..

and some on my mates very clean ED fairmont...he will be joining boosted soon.




so the plan for the car right now is minimal, as I just scored and ED classic as a project car, will get pics of that shortly..
THE PLAN is to upgrade the MAF, throttle body and manifold, and get a J3, and aiming for in 12 months for a Raptor s/c kit. Thats it for now, hope you enjoy the pics, and have a good day!!

well had a bit of drama with the car due to the storm over the weekend...My car was up to the doors in water, managed to move it, it was running like a bag of shit, idle all over the place, stalling, blowing black smoke. managed to get it home, but today, it wouldnt idle at all, then when i finally got the car going it wouldnt hold gears?? anyway, I thought this was due to have water in the car coz there was heaps, so I thought the ECU could be wet, so removed the kick panel and found this...


its called a superchip, and was plugged into the J3 port, I unpluged this thing and the care went heaps better....does anyone know or have heard of them??? It used to be in there all the time and I never knew it...anyway some pics of the car floating around on prinny hwy carnegie...

an idea for the panel gap where towbar goes if ya take it off. just fibreglass it n paint it. be nice and smooth then

any water damage to the engine???

Na no engine damage thank god. Just heaps of leaves everywhere, oh and a real bad smell. And to top things off, some tosser has taken out my drivers side mirror whilst i was parked on the street. Poor thing is looking a little sad atm.
