Small Prang, Guy won't own up to it...Not happy.

Postby Hybrid34 » October 15th, 2008, 11:07 pm

So I've just brought myself another car 2days ago(runabout on gas) 92 Fairmont Ghia Full leather, sunroof, leccies all the nice stuff, went to pick up me mum from work and this happens....
I indicate and slow down as most would to turn into a house, as I start to turn some wanka in a Bombed up HQ wagon tries to overtake me tboneing me wrecking my rear RHS door....he gets out starts going off his head saying its my fault, that I didn't indicate..and that He thought i was pulling over to the left,..
Almost punching on with him as he was threating to bash my face in mum came out n called the cops...
He got booked for tailgating and not leaving enough room between cars..Im stuck with a F**kd door and a wanka who doens't have any insurance (still thinking he was in the right)....

Though i'd get it off my back as Im pretty pissed off about it...

ABS = spongy brakes, but you'll slow to about 60

non-ABS = lock up at 100 & skid past the roo doing about 95. But you'll look sick doing it

If you're insured, they'll pay out and then pursue him.

Depends who you're insured with though. For some reason RACV kept telling me that I had to pay my excess (which meant it goes on my record as an accident that is my fault) on my last accident until they got the money from they guy/company of the guy that hit me.

You pay your excess until it is confirmed the other party is liable. Once that is the case, your excess is refunded and the record changed.

Thats what i kept saying to them but they wouldn't have a bar of it. They company of the guy that hit me admitted fault and also the police issued fines relating to the situation, but the RACV was making me pay until they received the money.

Are the skid marks on the road from where he locked it up?? or is that just a coincidence that sum1 has done a burnout there and thats where you stopped. It looks like hes been flying up from behind you and slammed on the brakes.

It's only a door. White EB doors aren't hard to find and won't be expensive. If it were me I would find a door and see if he will pay for it. Then I would change it myself.

If he won't pay for another door then I would just cop it and buy one myself. Like you said it's not worth wasting much time on. It's not worth involving the insurance company either.

Some people are just pricks.

Yeah those are his skid marks, obviously planted it as he tried over taking me (in a suburban street) and realised i was turning...

A few years back a guy bumped into my fairlane damadging the front bar, Insurance took the car and sprayed it (Australian Accident Repair Centre) charged me..and said you will have to pay until the guy goes (he finally did though)

Yeah I know doors arent expensive, its jsut a pain in the arse, having to hunt around, find a door rip it off...put it back on mine (and might have to pay for it myself) even when I was totally NOT in the wrong,
but your right insurance companies are a pain to deal with, I might just send him a bill for $300 for a new door if hes not happy with that, then he can pay $500+ to get it panel beated and sprayed (which is how its normally done)
