ba auto gear shift into e series?

can a ba auto gear shift be put into an eseries? my mate wants to no for his ea his getting?

there is a bit of work involved
and you need to do some custom work on the console to make it look right.
or do as dave has done i think and use a manual shifter surround. but then need a way of displaying what position the shifter is in.
