To wreck, sell or fix

Postby SLY347 » December 11th, 2008, 8:08 pm

As some of you may or may not know about my car it's in a sad state.
Start of the year, hit a gutter...broke alot of shit, got it semi fixed..hit a spoon drain and kill sump plug.
Now my has been sitting in my driveway for around 5-6 months doing nothing. So I've come to the decision I need to do something with it.

So do I wreck it/sell it and use the money to pay off some of my loan and get an import (JZX100 Chaser) or do I fix it..and it possibly sit there and do nothing still.

For those that don't know about the car, here are some of the mods/good parts. Also would be good if people could give me a rough estimate on what they would go for (NO F***ing LOWBALLING)

- 347ci V8 - 302 stroked out to 347ci, GT40 heads, explore manifold, aftermarket cam, bigger TB (Throttle body...dont know size, long time since I looked under the bonnet) and a few other goodies. Last time on the dyno made 192rwkw before 040 fuel pump.
- T5 Gearbox (Good nick...not a sound out of it) with RIP shifter and Extreme 6 button motorsport clutch.
- FULL XR Body kit (quad light)...front bar scratched on lip, paint flaking off grille.
- 3.45 LSD
- Koni yellow front shocks
- Whiteline "flatout" springs all round
- 27mm whiteline rear adj. swaybar
- 30mm whiteline front adj. swaybar
- XR interior - slight burn mark on one of the front seats
- x2 dash clusters
- All panels straight, no dents.

That's just off the top of my head...so what do people think?

To be fixed and street driven happily it needs
- Wheels
- Alignment
- Sump - going to be a pain in the arse to fix
- Tune
- few little things.

Just the fact that IF i fix it, worried i wont drive it.

seems to good to wreck, selling it wont yield any good returns because of people wanting everything for nothing ( i know im one of em  ) so the most logical answer is fix, then sell if you want a chaser, but you will miss it eventually, sounds like a really nice car to me.

I'd hate to be in your shoes, JZX100 Chasers are effing awsome but so is your ED

If you whip the engine out the sump is a piece of piss if you grab another one and do a swap.

The easy option would just be to fix the ED.......... Maybe wack some alloy heads on while your at it

Why will you drive the Chaser more than the ED if it were fixed?

IMO at least fix the Falcon up and drive it for a week, if you still want to sell it, sell it once it's fixed. You'll get thousands more for a complete, running car over a 98% finished 'just needs this and this' type of car.
