nah still on my p plates..

checked out the wagon today.

needs a little work to get it on the road. rust in one of the sills, new tint, roof lining, bonet struts, tires, has a hole in the rear muffler, odometer doesnt work, needs new paint on the roof and rear bumper, interior has stains, rocker cover leaking, and oil on top of rocker cover? out the cap perhaps im not sure, another few dabs of oil around the power steering pump lines, she has had the car 14 years, said they have never done the headgasket. says the car is at roughly 210000 kays, as the odometer is broken, thats about all i can think of?

$900 and would be a struggle to budge any lower :S

opinions?

LOL, sounds about average condition for most boxcars that are for sale these days.

IMO, it all depends on why you want a wagon? Do you need one?

They are very handy.

The only real difference about this one to the multitude of GLI wagons for sale, as it is not a Fairmont, is that it is Black Pearl. And there can't be many around anymore.

I would say that mine was in worse condition body wise, than the one you are looking at, but at least mine was a Fairmont Ghia, had 4 months Rego, power everything, leather and cloth seats and at least did have LPG that sort of ran. However my wagon had a blown head gasket, didn't run on petrol, has numerous dents and scratches and rust in the sills, dog leg and rear wheel arches, the tailgate is stuffed, hood lining was shot, no rear carpet and the front discs were rooted. And I got it for $400.

I wanted a wagon, and had a whole car worth of upgrades at home ready to swap in.

So, it all comes down to want you want to do with it.

i have a thing about wagons..

basically want a nice cruiser wagon, with something that goes hard under the hood.
like this car i looked at, is an ideal base, but just all the little things that i look at on it, little scratches everywhere and wahtnot, my el has this and i hate it and have not done anything about it.. and the odds of finding a cheap wagon with great body are like 1 in 45 million, i dont no.

took this today. yeah.

so basically ive been driving around with something fu(ked for a while, i was thinking tie rods, spoke to my dad who owned the car before me and he claims that the tie rods were replaced not even 2 years ago...

basically when i put my hand on the tie rod arm ? and someone pushes the car up and down, there is crunchy movement in it, well like you can feel something..

now im no mechanic (clearly)

but lower ball joints stuffed? :P

Just look at the torn boot on the tie rod end. It is stuffed.

And for the cost of between $15 and $30 for each tie rod end, it is a LOT cheaper to replace those first before looking at the ball joints.

Cheers

find an XR6 wagon. either a ED or EF. they have the guts to go when you need them to, but the cruisiness of a wagon. my wagons got all the guts it needs to, looks fkn oarsum (IMO), has the convienience of a wagon and costs less than $30 a week to run. just be patient in trying to find one. i spent 4 months looking and i feel like i rushed into it still.

if a cheap ed xr6 wagon came up id jump on it, but yeah im going to give it some time, idealy i would love a white ed fairmont wagon.. then i dont have to stuff around with the interior as i basically want ghia interior, power windows ect.

Well i ended up asking her to take the car to a rwc place to get a list of whats exactly needed for rwc.. anyway here is the exact email from her.

Hi, Here is the list. RWC checkup by Vin Tech Auto.
List:
Windscreen water washes
Oil wash
Muffles crack
Front Brakes and Pads
Lowes Ball joint
Front needs 2 new tyres
Odometer
Bonet sticks
back window tint
Total cost including labour = $1070.00

Bonet sticks = bonet struts lol..
oil wash = i have no fkn idea, cleaning the oil off the bottom of the engine and shit?

seems to be a bit big for a $900 car,
$500 perhaps?
