Au long motor... cheapest and easyest...

1k your kidding bently.... 500 for a full motor with all accesorys or 250 without any... swap your sump no need for pulling heads off... just swap the sump and your away most likely with a lower KM engine, smoother and more power.

lol. 1000!!! I have an AU ticky in the shed my mate bought for under $200 from a wreckers!!!
Swapping sumps?? You cant exactly do that between E and A series motors... You need to cut the K frame or mod the sump to fit the AU motor in.
Gasket kit with bolts (using a AU MLS gasket) will be well under $200.

Course it can, but it doesnt have to.
I can get an AU motor complete with BBM, serp, intake for $300... EL ECU for $10. What else do you need to convert a boxcar to AU power?

It takes more than a ECU swap you have, thermo's, bbm vacuum switch, loom, knock sensor, radiator hose's..... a whole conversion is going to start to add up.

However if i was this guy, having the know how to be pulling a head off doesn't seam to be something he can achive as he is asking what he needs to do, so there for doing an Au long motor swap would be the best option. He has a EF so it has the serp belt set up so no need for tensioner's and belts... As for the sump Im not sure if the EF sump would fit or why if not.... i know with box cars all you need to do is grind the fins off the front however i know EF/EL are diferent.

Why is he going to need a tensioner or belt?? its an EF evan a box car just swap the long motor and still no need...

He will need coolant if he does the head gasket only anyways...

I think you need to stop going to the HWY till 5am and get some sleep buddy!! :D

as he said he is used to box cars where you do need belt and tensioner etc.

but yeh au long motor into ef/el isnt to bad
just need to cut the front of the sump off and weld a plate in.
or modify the kframe

Your probably better off buying the whole motor, unless someone on here has a head for sale. Bundoora wreckers are pretty cheap for AU motors Ive heard, someone will have there number.

BTW you can just grind off the front fins on the sump to get an AU motor to fit an E-Series, no need to cut up the k-frame.

That may work in EA-EDs but it doesnt in EF/ELs.
