ideas on colour and combination , getting my interior retrim

Postby CHEETR » July 20th, 2009, 7:07 pm

ay,

getting my interior retrimmed in 3 weeks ive decided on a colour sceme, but just wanted to see other peoples ideas, its probably one of the hardest cars ive had to do because of the colour, dont wana do red as i have that in my vt and it wont go with the paintwork.

heres what ive come up with so far

current recaro style ghia seats
all the bolsters will be refoamed back to original due to years of wear
EL ghia door trims
Shale leather (same as what i put in my senator)
Green double Stitching (to match paint work)

as for the embroidery, im thinking about doing "powered by tickford" with the "powered" being small font above a larger tickford badge and wings
Issota wheel, trimmed to match
parcel shelf is going to be a custom job ill do over a couple weekends.

any other ideas on combinations, feel free to share, im not interested in red or orange or even yellow.

black is possible, but dosnt stand out, not really intersted in spending all this money and going the factory grey colour so i think shale is about the only colour that will suit it and look good.
open to ideas .. someone might have a better colour scheme

there is also a possibility of going swuede, toyed with it on the vt but never did it so thinking i might try it with this car

i have my plates into my seats on my vt.

but on the eb i want to do something different, being that it has a tickford motor i thought it would look nice, other the interior will look plain.

the idea is to stand out, as ill probably end up turning it into a show car.
so running with the sheep is not something im going for.
ive decided on embroidery and the rest, just asking if anyone has any ideas on other combinations before i order the italian leather next week

i wouldnt put tickford anywhere on the car. go the Ghia "script" as found on the guards of EL Ghias. would look awesome embroided on the seats.

Shale leather is a nice colour. dont know about green stiching tho. maybe black? i always wanted black interior with cream seats and door trim inserts on my old EDGHIA. you dont see it on E-series.

Shale leather would look the goods.... not a fan of the 'powered by tickford' idea though.... I think the Ghia script
would look much better.... its just a bit more subtle..... green stitching could look the goods, could come off
looking crap though.... Black stitching would be a much 'safer' bet..... Safe obviously isnt always great....

Looking very forward to seeing the final outcome too.....

Embriodary on the seat seems pointless. Say you wanna sell them you no one will want to buy them with shit written on em. That would be like me putting EBGLT on my seats.

How much is it setting you back?

i wont be selling the seats with the ammount its costing anyway.

when your building individual car, you dont think about those things.. you think about what looks best other wise its pointless.

cost is about 4k

4k!!?? Sheesh thats alot more then I expected, who's doing it?

I understand getting the embroidery, kind of adds a personal touch and a name/theme to the car. Sounds like you have it all pretty much sorted, sounds good.

i'm glad you agree regarding selling it.
who builds a car thinking about when it gets sold anyway!

I like the above mentioned idea regarding the Ghia script.
Would look pretty classy embroided on the Shale Leather.

How far are you looking to take the interior?
Are you going to re-trim the Dash etc aswell?

barbie - thats still pretty cheap.. i am only doing seats and trims, steering wheel and console lid. the vt cost me 6500 and the senator cost about 5k, fine cut auto upholstery same guy who did my last 5 interiors.

effalcon - thanks for that mate, not as far as that interior, but will still look pretty custom thanks for that pic though gives me an idea of what can be acheived in a eb.

hard to be original when every man and his dog modifies a commodore.. added with the fact that most 'ideas' are available off the shelf these days.

Id go 2 tone grey leather with the Ghia script. Light grey outers and door trims, dark grey inners and door trim inserts. Embroidery in light grey.

I always wanted cream and dark grey in the EL.

i think black seats with green stitching would look good.
it also depends on wat else u r going to the rest of the interior like dash etc.
i think ghia is a better idea than tickford.
