No more falcons :(

Postby 09SR5 » July 26th, 2009, 7:02 pm

Ok so I got rid of my last falcon today, had been thinking about it for a while and finally bit the bullet after one failed attempt to sell. Started it after several months of non running and gave her a few revs and nearly decided to keep it after hearing the bark from the exhaust but forced myself to load it on the trailer and tow it down to john.

Had a near miss less than 500m from my house. Lowered car unfriendly trailer + not enough weight on the draw bar gave us a wild ride after we'd actually turned around to move the car further forward on the trailer. It's amazing how quickly a fishtailing trailer can get out of control. Luckily we were only doing round 50km/hr and had slight hill so was able to regain control. and shit my pants afterwards.

But yeah sad day really but you life changes and time doesnt seem to be avaliable to work on cars and blow money into them like before and I sold it chesp to get a quick sale and get it done with.

John can tell you all more some suprises for him in terms of parts i threw in that i hadn't aadvertised and i'm pretty sure he and (wife... Sorry! I don't actua;;y know your name!) liked the exhaust sound

End of an era !

Ah yes an epic trip, I won't forget the tail-wagging-the-dog moment when the hilux started to let go with the trailer when fishtailing. Nor will I forget the short angry fat carwash attendant looking at us laughing at him while he was trying to get the spray trigger down from the foam brush hanger!

I just dug out a pic of Karl's old green EB too just for history's sake; no pics of the yellow beast though as that was gone before I met him

Here's the EF after some months of sitting, on it's way into the carwash before dropping it off to John's:

Vote 1 John should put the AU front end in and turn it into a track car!

yup karl did throw in tones of extras and when he opened the boot when he was here i dont think he actually realised what was in there.

Brand new AU2 hubs and Calipers in amongst the AU front suspension. Basically everything needed to finish the conversion to AU front and rear end

It's definitely wise to be decisive and avoid pointless losses in time/money. Certainly know the feeling of being Falconless, but we have to do the right thing by ourselves in the end and it's all for the best. I didn't even realise NZinAUS was on here - hope you're keeping well mate. :drinks2:
