Postby lawler » November 9th, 2009, 9:16 am

Well I got laid off last week due to a new owner taking over were I was working and he had his mates line up to work for him so no job for me. tho luckily my old boss lent me the invoice books so i can finish my on the job stuff for my apprenticeship and get signed off. but in between trying to find a new job I got bored and started pulling my mates Eb apart due to blown head gasket, new turbo set up going on, cleaning engine bay up, new exhaust and respray so just thought i would post up a few pic of it

Na lol hes my best mate. i haven't been able to work on my 31 lately due to a heap of bill to pay so no parts or things to do on it at the moment so i get bored so i work on his car because I'm gonna go crazy not doing anything and I've always wanted to do an eb/ed xr6 turbo projected but with the 31 and working on my mates Eb I don't think ill never get to do one unless i sell the 31 but that would be a waste of money at the moment so hence why its his car I'm always talking about on here and his account on here doesn't want to log in due to password problems so he also use mine so its not always me

cool, i read that as 'he ran it with a brace and the bolts kept coming out of the manifold' at first and though fukc!
but hopfully i wont have those issues with the bracing i have in mind.
also makes me feel better about using 2.5" pipe thinking it might have been too small

2 1/2 should be right if you go any bigger it might slow down the gas flow making it laggier.
yeah you should be right with a brace because once he put the brace on it it didnt have a problem

Na we don't we just backed a little timing out and use an air/fuel gauge to make shore it wasn't running lean. but on 9psi when it was auto it was about even with my r31 last time that was going and my r31 was even with a mates r32 gtr that just had 3inch exhaust and pod filter on standard boost

wich means about the 180rwkw mark but that seems a bit high for a few restriction the car had so dont know like the facted it and a foot and a half of standard exhaust just after the dump pipe then into a 2 1/2 inch exhaust on a 340km old motor

lol
i rekon 180rwkw on 9psi would be about right, if not a little low, should really be making 200rwkw+ with a decent tune

well with the auto, 2.93 lsd, 235/40r18 all you would have to do is stall it up in low click 2nd brake off then steer. but the auto only lasted 6000km before it died. then the manaul he had sitting around for a year went in and so far that's some how holding up to his 3rd gear clutch kicks with 265/35r18 on the back

yeah we almost did just dont have any where that we can do it at the moment because his dads xr6t ute is in the shed with a fucked turbo and his dads race bike (ducati 1098) is in bit in there as well due to a smashed piston. And engine jackes dont work to well on grass and there drive way is ash felt and it sinks into it

Also the motor has 340k on it and the bores are a bit glazed so if it came out it would have got re ringed and bearings then the head would have got this and that and once again it wouldn't be going so he can drive it because hes most likely losing his license soon for a few months and wants to drive it again before that happens
